TERRAMAN (KARSTEN KLEIN) was born in Hagen (Germany) in 1960. At the age of 10 he started to play "DRUMS" with mom's cooking pots. At the age of 12 he founded his first band "STEINBRUCH" with his friend Chris B. "We recorded on a mono tape deck! Amazing what sounds you can produce using some cooking pots and an old guitar!" Soon after that TERRAMAN had some gigs with the band "COOL". One of those early concerts happened in the legendary "NO.1" nightclub in Hagen. Band members were: Peter S., Rolf Wolf & TERRAMAN. (At this time his artist name was "CASTELLO") Then the band "BUNTE HUNDE" (Axel Sturm, Peter S., TERRAMAN and "the man who never visited Jamaica") had some great live performances (eg in "Haus Waldfrieden" together with the well known german band "Extrabreit"). TERRAMAN was the drummer of "FLORA FLITTCHENS KAPELLE", one of the first German Punk bands. "We had 200 watts Hiwatt amps. I could hardly hear my drums. We played to get free beer and were only able to play 8 different songs. Sometimes the audience liked it and we performed the same 8 songs twice". (Longer playing = more beer).
The second highlight in TERRAMANS music career was his appearance together with "Horrible Horn" (Co-founder of "Extrabreit" and composer of the top selling song "Hurra, Hurra, die Schule brennt"). "Horrible Horn" and TERRAMAN performed in a group called: "ROSA HAGEN BAND" (with "Public" from Extrabreit). Soon afterwards TERRAMAN & Stevie Kiwi formed the duo "RADIOPASSIV" and one of their songs was released on the legendary Punk/Wave record "ALLES AUS HAGEN" (1982) with other artists like "Extrabreit, Kleinkrieg, Eroc". The fantastic song on this record is called "Grün und Grau". This was followed by the cult-single "Lachend in den Tod hinein" (bought by at least 20 People :). It was produced with "Matthias Graudenz" (vocals). The project was called "CASTELLO UND DAS UNGLÜCK". We had the single produced by EMI in Cologne. Later TERRAMAN joined "POP ART". "Armin Krull" played violin and guitar. He then became a member of the "blackest white blues band" in Germany, "SWEET VANILLA". (With the fantastic "Wegener brothers".
A lot of bigger concerts proved that Blues, if of high quality, always attracts a lot of fans. The local top act "NO NAMES" needed a new drummer and TERRAMAN got the job. This was hot and fast Punk/Rock/New Wave with german lyrics and "Ampel Wortmann" as lead vocalist. For one show TERRAMAN played bass for the projekt "ARBEIT UND AUTO" with "Philip Boa" (simple bassline, but great impact). Then TERRAMAN concentrated on different jobs for some years. "I needed the money!". During the late 90s TERRAMAN got the chance to try out something new. "EFP (EIN FATALES PROJEKT)" were Hip-Hoppers - all of them quite a bit younger than TERRAMAN. "They showed me how to use a computer to create music!" In and around Hamburg in Germany "EFP" was well known. One of the biggest achievements was the 3rd price in a serious german wide music contest. The best 10 bands played at the well known club "GROSSE FREIHEIT" in Hamburg (Do you remember the Beatles?). The event was sold out. In Hamburg TERRAMAN then became a member of the well known band "DOC DEE" and played percussions. Then TERRAMAN moved to Budapest (Hungary) to make a childhood dream come true. "My childhood friend "Dirk Tetampel" came over and together with the young and talented hungarian guitar player "Peter Vamos" the 16-track-CD "FRUEHSTUECK IN BUDAPEST" was recorded. TERRAMAN composed, produced, recorded and mixed most of it by himself. "The songs are great, but the sound could be better" - So, being a perfectionist, TERRAMAN went to sunny Malaysia to study "Sound Engineering" at the international SAE-INSTITUTE in Kuala Lumpur. "People who studied at the SAE won GRAMMYS!" TERRAMAN learned. In 2007 TERRAMAN achieved the Diploma. Whenever TERRAMAN finds time, he works together with his very best friend "electriczorro" ("Frank Becker") from Hamburg. "We create fun-tunes. I love our crazy ideas".
