Derrick "Tech Supreme" Kilgore
With a rapidly growing popularity and national recognition already under his belt, there is much more to be expected from producer Derrick Kilgore better known as Tech Supreme. With a sound he describes as "Tomorrow", matching thumping bass and harmonious melodies, Tech Supreme's music is sure to shape the sound of music's future.
Having spent most of his adolescence shifting between Missouri, Washington and New Jersey, it was his return to St. Louis, MO at the age of 16 where Tech Supreme discovered his love for producing. "I started learning how to program music and drums with a keyboard my brother brought with him when he visited me in the summer of 1997, and I fell in love with it", says Tech on his introduction to producing. From then on, Tech knew that producing was something more than a hobby. For Tech, producing became a desired profession, leading him to collaborate with several artists and even creating his own compilation album titled "Beneath the Surface", an instrumental mix-tape titled "Crate Creations, and a rap album titled "Jungle City".
Outside of his own projects, Tech Supreme joined together with a collective of artists, producers, bloggers, promoters, photographers, disc jockeys, and more, known as the Force. It was with this super assembly, where he also serves as a recording engineer and graphic designer, that Tech has gained some of his major successes thus far. Those successes include winning The Riverfront Times' (a distinguished St. Louis publication) Producer of the Year in 2007, gaining over 100 radio spins in 2010 from hit singles with fellow Force members Tef Poe and Corey Black, and also having his music featured for commercial use in several radio and television advertisements. His rap-sheet of experience is also built up with collaborations with local and nationally known artist such as, Rockwell Knuckles, Black Spade, Vandalyzm, Nato Caliph, Teresa Jenee, Murphy Lee, and Ebony Eyez, just to name a few.
With a résumé like his, Tech Supreme is becoming a go-to-guy for a successful hit. Anticipating the release of his newest compilation "Obligation", Tech Supreme hopes to "change the way people make music". This new project will feature mostly St. Louis area artists with production solely from Tech Supreme himself. Of his inspiration, Tech says, "I am inspired by everything around me. I try to make music when I produce and not just beats. I try to capture the emotion that I am feeling, whether happy or sad. I try to also make music that will make people want to move." As his music continues to gain attention from established websites, publications, and listeners nationwide, Tech Supreme's inspiration will soon fill the hearts and ears of everyone, everywhere, and for a very long time.
