To/Die/For

To/Die/ For was founded in Kouvola, Finland in 1999. Spinefarm Records soon noticed the band's potential and a record deal was signed shortly. Their first album „All Eternity" saw the light of day.
The album was released in numerous countries around the world via Nuclear Blast. The first European tour with In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and Sentenced in year 2000 was a great start for gigs outside of Finland. Ever since To/Die/For has been touring more abroad than in homeland.
In Finland the single "In Heat of the Night" sold gold in 2000.
Over the years, To/Die/For has gone through numerous changes in their line-up, which each of them have given the band hard times. However the love of making music has always brought them back on their feet.
Via Spinefarm/Universal, To/Die/For released five albums:
- All Eternity (1999)
- Epilogue (2001)
- Jaded (2003)
- IV (2005)
- Wounds Wide Open (2006)
Thereafter the contract ran out.
After the release of the album „Wounds Wide Open" numerous tours abroad followed. To/Die/For for example toured the U.S.A., Europe, Russia, Japan and Mexico. The band has thus shared it's music around the world.
When the band had been touring two years after release of WWO, some of the experiences left on the back of the mind with good ones, were as well heavy. The band's spirit and motivation had come downhill to the point that the idea of ending the story of To/Die/for hovered in the air. In the end the band came in to the decision to break up.
In autumn 2010, To/Die/For was born again. The earlier "death" of the band turned out to be a "healing break". The reason to activate the band again, was strongly affected by the fact that in addition of Jape von Crow, there were old To/ Die/For members back in business. Today Juppe Sutela (All Eternity, Epilogue and IV), Antza Talala (Wounds Wide Open) and Juska Salminen (IV) are playing in the band again with two new members: Eza Viren (bass) and Matti Huopainen (drums). The band started to record their sixth album, Samsara, investing their own money in it and without any labelsupport. The album was engineered by Mikko Kauppi from Kouvola, while the mix was done by Mikko Karmila and the mastering handled by Svante Forsbäck.
To/Die/For was in search for a new record deal. After some offers from record companies which did not meet expectations, the band decided to create the album by themselves under their own label To/Die/For-Clan.
Licencse agreements of Samsara have been sold for example to Hydrant Music in Japan, The End of Light in Canada and the Fono Ltd. in Russia. Through „The End Of The Light" the album has been released as well in Mexico and U.S.A.
In march 2012 To/Die/For signed with Massacre Records,and Massacre Records will release Samsara album everywhere in Europe.
In Finland, Samsara is not officially released by any company and it can only be bought from Levykauppa X (Record Shop X).
Now in 2012, To/Die/For is healthier than ever before. Their motivation is high and the band is playing better than ever before. Again the band as a unit has found pleasure in what they are doing.
