With their varied individual influences, and armed with a talent to successfully blend these ideas together, Tarka Dawn continue to write and perform edgy, emotive and melodic alternative/rock. The lads have developed into one of Sheffield’s finest live acts, which has won them support slots with the likes of The Datsuns, The Bluetones and The Young Knives to name just a few. A big guitar sound teamed with textured melodies has become their familiar sound, and their energetic live shows translate this perfectly. Their first gig was at Sheffield’s Boardwalk early 2007 and they have continued to perform at the country’s finest venues including the famous Cavern Club, The Leadmill, 12Bar Club Soho and they have even graced the Oval Stage at Sheffield’s City Hall
With their place concreted into the local music scene, they are continuing to grow in popularity and never fail to deliver. Tarka Dawn are cramming fans into their favourite venues and have captivated audiences in Sheffield’s O2 Academy, a venue that has hosted their own sell out headline shows on numerous occasions.
The Plasticine Dreams EP was the bands first recorded offering. Their debut release became popular enough to maintain shelf space in HMV. ‘Spanish Girl’ was a track released shortly after as their debut single and escaped onto the airwaves of local radio stations.
With greater ambitions and dedication to their cause, Tarka Dawn are evolving as a promising resurrection of rock n roll in an industry that is crying out for it! Not so much a breath of fresh air, but more an arctic blizzard of solid musicianship, enchanting melodies and thoughtful words!
