The MacKenzie Blues Band's show is like jumping on board a runaway train to your favorite jumpin' juke joint. Original and traditional blues served up in a funky, heart wrenching, howling, screeching commotion will have you shakin' your tail feather and swaying to the music respectively. This band is relatable and respectable in it's line up, with hugely talented musicians who are rarin' to ignite any audience who comes to party.
The band was started by Owen Sound guitar hero Trevor MacKenzie, a seasoned blues session man, who lured his unbelievably talented songstress of a wife Tara, into a sweet sordid love affair with the blues. He then recruited the most solid rhythm section possible to throw the party into overdrive and aptly named the group after himself. Michael Weir ( Drums) and Joel Dawson ( Upright Bass and Electric Bass) thump, thrash, and rip out the bottom on the tasty arrangements.
They like to play in 2 configurations, "low down and dirty" acoustic as well as "electrified energized and amped up" sets. They are always playing to the needs of the venue and crowd.

Tara is an in demand session vocalist, voice teacher and high intensity performer who's versatility is unparalleled. She has worked as a professional singer for 25 years, touring extensively in Europe, South Africa, the Caribbean and North America. Her passion for dynamics, grit and range set her apart from the pack as a singer. Her original songs are heartfelt and soulful. She has an uncanny ability to interpret classics of the genre into her very own style. When Tara sings, people get effected. They feel it. It's a rare singer who's voice can tear right through your soul they way she can.
Mr. TREVOR MACKENZIE

Resident Grey Bruce Axeman, Trevor is a sought after guitarist of high caliber. His mastery of multiple guitar disciplines,fluidity and ability to cause a melodic screeching commotion pleases audiences every time." He's been called one of Canada's most dangerous guitar players" by the Timmins news paper. Trevor is not shy about observing and then destroying musical boundaries, believing that musicality can not be contained by shoving it in definable boxes. The blues is broad, The manifestation of the blues is wider than 12 bars. It lives and breathes, just as you and I do. He's on a mission of his own design to prove this. He has toured internationally in Japan, China, Barbados, America and Canada treating audiences to a musical spectacle of pleasurable audible experience.
MR. JOEL DAWSON
On Vocals, Double and Electric Bass:
Joel is an in demand session musician in Southern Ontario, known for his funky, tasteful, biting and melodic work on the upright and electric bass. A Graduate of Humber College music program, He is an educator running a successful teaching studio, and busy live performer. He has toured and recorded internationally. He has worked musically with Tara on and off over the last 17 years. He has a wonderfully dry sense of humor and never fails to deliver a killer brand of sonic density.
MR. MICHAEL WEIR

If Thor wasn't the Patriarch of Thunder, Mike might be.
He is the kind of musician, bands would kill to be able to work with. He's that guy who plays every instrument so well you can't believe that much groove could exist in one earth suit . He's a beautiful vocalist with a near countertenor range who creates intelligent harmony and mojo. Mike's passion is playing the drums, and it shows. He is also an in demand session commodity In Southern Ontario.
