TANTRiXX combines the forces of Tan Ti'en (Vocals), Nunz Vacca (Drums), Nathan Sinclair (Guitars), Joey Bruford (Bass) and Grant Ryan (Keys, FX and Vocals) creating an up-close-and-personal apocalypse of high-energy electro-hip-pop that is dark, light, & nowhere in between. Where Blondie was gettin' fresh with 'Rapture' in '81, TANTRiXX is gettin' fresh with 'Daddy'. Vehement vocals over rubenesque raps and electro-now sounds take you gliding through what might be the soundtrack to your fucked up days daze. Beats placate. Plaintive cries and whispers of desire might mess with your head but they'll also keep you moving so they can't take over. TANTRiXX are for the post-modern set. Its dark like Portishead, rough'n'ready like Peaches, in your face like The Prodigy, free like Kate Bush stoned off her tits, its Eurythmics as they led the new romantics & its moody like punks coming down. Ultimately, it's none of the above because TANTRiXX have straddled the new wave & are riding it like there's no tomorrow.
Emerging from Perth, Western Australia, TANTRiXX is the brainchild of songwriter & mistress of vocal FXX Tan Ti'En (ex La Chambre & The Lipz). Her vocal style, lyrics, and what some have described as "animal magnetism" have attracted few comparisons.
In Melbourne, 2001, working alongside MyLittlePony/Digital Racoonz producer Agent Richie Pike, Tan began BeatScaping fuzing the seXXy electro soundz of Korg's family of Synths with live strings & effected vocals. The by-product? An amalgamation of electro, break beats & ROCK laced with vocals & lyrics that could make a grown minXX cry.or at the very least, mildly arouSed. In 2004, Tan relocated to London. Following a mishmash in the studio with Polish born & bred bassist/vocalist, DIJOU, she morphed the sound lacing it with lashings of his augural vocals & then took the live shows to another level with the introduction of new members including Hannah Lloyd (TempoShark) and Jody Maloney (The Gadsdens) on guitar and backing vocals. Following an extended stint in the UK & Europe, 2008 saw Tan returning to her home town of Perth bringing the new TANTRiXX soniXX home for lift off breaking waves with the track Pillz reaching number "1" on the JJJ unearthed electronic charts, as well as scoring a gong with the 2008 WAMi Song of the Year Award where SymbiotiXX the RemiXX was nominated Song Of the Year in the electronic category!
The sound continues to stir the briefs of the young and old more recently with the band hitting the finals of WA's 2009 Next Big Thing. A reloaded version of Pillz, recorded by Perth based producer 'lowercaser' at Little Seed Studios will feature on the 2010 NBT Compilation.
