In 2009 Roby and Dave are working on solo releases.

Tankt was formed in early 2000 in Melbourne, Australia. Originally a four piece, the final line-up of Roberto Massaglia and Dave Foreman stabilized in mid-2002. Roby was born in Milan, Italy and grew up during the second wave of punk. In the early 1980's, the Italian punk scene was strong, yet still underground, and in many ways it formed Roby's musical tastes and social leanings. Throughout the years, Roby has embraced many music styles from British indie and US garage rock to northern soul and dub.he has lived for extended periods in Italy, Japan, and Australia, yet his early punk sympathies still filter through in his work with Tankt. Dave grew up in Melbourne, and in the late 1980's he discovered a local radio show which was playing cutting edge German, Belgian, and North American electronic music. This sound left an indelible impression on his musical mind. A pilgrimage to Belgium in 1992 resulted, but so too did a realization that the Belgian scene he was chasing was now lying dormant. So, Dave trekked back to Australia and soon made his first synthesizer purchase.

In 2001, Tankt released their debut album, "Despair Ltd." on the Australian label Ground Under Productions, and it was met with much critical acclaim. This hype was only increased when one of the songs from the album, "Elite", made it's way onto the popular "Septic II" compilation from Dependent Records. Suddenly, EBM fans across the globe wanted to learn more about this unique Australian act. A followup release came in 2002, "Devolution", which was a 50/50 mix of new songs as well as remixes from "Despair Ltd.". Tankt's momentum continued to grow with both this and their 2004 album "Strip Off the Gilt". Their final full-length, "Club Life (Life According to the 21st Century)" was to prove a fitting end point for the duo. This disc featured a mix of dance tracks, atmospheric instrumentals, and emotional ballads, and offered the scathing socio-politcal commentary that has become part of Tankt's trademark.

Since the early days of Tankt, the band has had a slow but steady evolution, with shows in many cities, appearances on international and local compilations, and live performances alongside such acts as Ikon, Snog, Angel Theory, Resurrection Eve, Covenant and VNV Nation.

Tankt have completed remixes for and worked with local and international acts such as IKON, Edge of Dawn, Seabound, Suicide Commando, Angelspit, AngelTheory, Lux Voltaire, Tycho Brahe, The Crystalline Effect.

Even though the band has cease to operate, Roberto and Dave are still actively working with music. Roby has teamed up with Melbourne producer John Von Ahlen to form the band The Tenth Stage, and has of September 2009 completed his first solo CD as 'The Victim's Ball'. Dave is currently concentrating on remixing other artists and writing original songs to be released later in 2009.

Stay creative.
