Taneta had the crowd captivated tonight with her superb performance at the Cobden Club. Her stunning original songs sound like ready-made classics; her vocal delivery is at once brilliant, soothing and silky smooth. A class act that held the audience completely in her grip.watch out for this girl.Stephen Hunwick, Music Critic (COBDEN CLUB Feb 06)

Regardless of genre, Taneta comfortably tells her stories across the whole cross-section of moods, flirting with rnb, jazz, hip-hop, neo-soul and ambient/house music.

"My starting off point has always been to express a viewpoint, an experience or my state of mind, through sound and rhythm. That way Im able to showcase different aspects of my character without any artificial limits."

The love affair started with the Sunday afternoon jam sessions at Camdens legendary Jazz Caf; a train-ride away in Paris, she worked with underground house producer and composer, Geoffrey Peuble and in her first collaboration contributed to Sister Lili on which she co-wrote and sang two dance tracks. Back in Zimbabwe Taneta recorded her demo with the inimitable Lamone (incidentally her baby bro!) of Makastrator Studios whose hip-hop/jazz pedigree blends well with her sultry vocals. Taneta was to kick-start writing of the EP with, On My Toes a stunning collaboration with London based production mavericks, Silent Voice. Ultimately the twists and turns in this creative journey led her to New York in the summer/autumn of 2005. Here she wrote the bulk of her material with Grammy nominated sound engineer and producer Frank Wolf.

Taneta's live performances are a slick, stripped back re-interpretation of tracks off her EP, Paradox set for release in the summer of 06. Accompanied by a soulful quartet of saxophone, bass, acoustic guitar and percussion and a stunning duo of backing vocalists she speaks of the liberation of love and the redemption it brings, while at the furthest extreme she depicts an epic tale of love in its bleakest forms.
