Artist / Band / Musician
In the age of the independent artist, Tamanda Walker is that rare diamond in the rough that is destined to shine over the music industry. With her soul tinged blend of pop, Tamanda has already cemented her status as “one to watch” on London’s live music scene.

May 2010 sees the eagerly anticipated release of Tamanda’s self-titled debut EP. For this EP Tam teamed up with Drew Horley (Estelle / Ty / Natalie Williams), DC Joseph (Musiq Soulchild / Beverley Knight) Yak Bondy (Amy Studt / Rachel Stevens) and Big Life writers, Maryann and Michael Tedstone to best showcase her versatile talent.

Drawing comparisons to the likes of Alicia Keys and Norah Jones, Tamanda’s “stunning vocals and superlative song writing abilities” are not in doubt. In 2006, Tamanda was crowned the winner of the Sibelius Songwriter of the Year Award. 2007 was marked by the underground rising of the 2-step garage remix of her self penned track, ‘I Don’t Wanna Fight’ by Danny Dubbz. The track was a hit in clubs around the UK, resulting in numerous live PAs and extensive airplay across pirate radio stations as well as BBC 1xtra and Kiss FM.

Swiftly following this success, Tamanda was picked up by Manike Music and began working on her first solo project which was managed by Tim Parry and Jazz Summers at Big Life Management (La Roux / The Verve / Snow Patrol). Much of this work forms the basis of her forthcoming EP, and includes the poignant track, ‘City Queen’, a tale of lost love and heartbreak with Lazarus International Pictures producing the official City Queen music video, in conjunction with Perfect Planet Records.

Arguably best known for her heartfelt and charismatic live performances, Tamanda has performed all over London making appearances at renowned music venues, including the Indig02, Cargo, The Bedford, The Troubadour and many more.

As an artist of African origin, she has been presented with diverse opportunities to perform further afield, most recently at the Lucky Fish Festival in South Africa. Tamanda was also invited to perform as an official artist for the South African Tourism Board at the World Travel Market Convention in 2008 and has also performed as an official artist for the charitable organization, Africa Inspired Foundation.

With boundless determination, passion and conviction, Tamanda’s debut EP celebrates a sure-footed first foray into the industry. Possessing the necessary combination of sheer talent and stunning looks, one fact is clear: “Tamanda Walker is definitely destined for success!” (Paul Kennedy, AnR Big Life Music, Owner 12One Management)
