Any way, my name is Tama Girard and I am a musician/producer in the southern NE music scene. I just think that local musicians should know that there are many Rhode Island resources readily at their disposal and that those resources are looking for great musicians to form into record label contract material. Ive recorded 4 albums independently. During the course of creating those 4 albums, I would be asked by different L.A. producers to write something a little bit faster, slower, heavier, softer, or more melodic. It always seemed like I was chasing my tail, until finally, something really great started to happen. I began having very diverse methods of writing. It turned out that, it wasnt a certain type of music I was, or wasnt writing for that matter. I was just writing music in general music of all types, sounds and cultures that appealed to all different types of people. Different singles off each of my previous albums began getting radio airplay on different local stations. Each station had a completely different musical genre for there listeners, and different singles from each of my albums catered to those different genre listeners and stations. My musical diversity had enabled me to be spread throughout the local radio land, and not be secluded to just one station. Musicians these days, more now than ever, need to be very diverse and original to compete with all the new styles of music competition. This radio airplay really started to open a lot of new doors for me. These radio stations are just some of the many huge resources available to local musicians. These radio stations sponsor local music for musicians without a music contract through a major record label. 94.1 WHJY, 95.5 WBRU, 104.1 WBCN, 107.3 WAAF

My previous albums, and the radio station airplay, were enough to catch the ears of some well-known artists and producers who could make a difference in anyones musical career. I found myself rubbing elbows with other musicians who were in similar situations, and producers who were curious of whats to come. I began recording with a team of talented musicians, producers and engineers who have toured with, and recorded national and world-renowned acts. After years of vigorous and countless studio sessions recording my previous albums on my own, arose my new album, Tama Girard (Game Over). There was one huge exception, though. This album had the collaboration of musicians and producers who are successful in their field. This new album was mastered by Jonathan Weiner, who has Mastered bands such as Nirvana, David Bowie and so many others. Jonathan Weiner is the founder and owner of M-Works mastering studios in Cambridge, MA. This is also a resource that is located within 50 miles from providence. I have turned to my close friend, Paul Kolderie, to get constructive feedback and directional guidance. Paul Kolderie is a well-known Boston based producer who has turned out artists such as The Mighty Mighty Boss Tones, Radio Head, Tanya Donnelley (from Belly), Kay Hanley (from Letters to Cleo) and many more artists. These are also great resources readily available to talented local musicians.

The musicians performing on this new album have been in some of the most well known bands in the world such as Britney Spears, Nuno Bettencourt, Vicious Game, MTVs Touch, and the Fools) And yes, all found right here in southern NE! After recording this new album, Britney Spears keyboard player (Mike Sahagian) and myself, found we worked very well together and complimented each others talent in an extraordinary way. Mike and I decided to become partners in a writing/production firm called Division1. This allowed us to push the envelope with our diverse techniques in writing and recording. Also, with this collaboration came new venues, colleagues, offers and friends. Like the one guy who made a huge impact in my career. moving me up from performing music, to producing it, Vinny Paz. Vinny had invited me to a social meeting amongst friends with actor Wesley Snipes and actor/producer Mario VanPeebles. He introduced me and said Hey Guys this is Tama Girard a great singer and songwriter. Hes someone you really have to see. It seemed like thats all it took. One swift move in the form of a hand shake, the 5 time world champion and one of my best friends had put me in contact with some of the worlds most successful actors, producers and film companies. One endorsement from someone as well known and well respected as Vinny and then it all took off. Vinny has done a lot for so many others in this small state who has needed a chance and hasnt had many opportunities. Hes meek, humble and has always looked out for Rhode Islanders and theyre benefits of opportunity. It could be acting, music, and yes even boxing. If Vinny sees true talent in Rhode Island, regardless of the profession, he has the means of showcasing you to the right person to further your career. Shortly after this meeting, myself and my business partner Mike Sahagian, had quite a few meetings with the Hard Luck production team, movie soundtrack musicians and cast members including Wesley Snipes and Mario VanPeebles. A QUOTE FROM WESLEY SNIPES. "Tama, I want you to know, youre not here at this point because of who you know us meeting was great! But now youre here because youre truly a talented artist". Following this meeting, we were asked to write and produce the self titled movie soundtrack Hard Luck featuring Reggae singer Lennox Buppy Brown.

This endorsement from Vinny Paz had been the most significant pivoting point in mine, and Mike Sahagians musical career. Mike and I still love to play at Rhode Island night clubs, and still enjoy recording local musicians. But to step up to the level of recording the Major motion picture film soundtrack Hard Luck really does show how versatile Rhode Island, and its people can be. We are currently submitting music for the new Walt Disney film The Under dog scheduled to shoot in Rhode Island late March, early April. This has been a long haul from the start of my career to the present, but regardless of what state you come from it always will be. This story is about a Rhode Island musician who never left Rhode Island, a kind hearted Rhode Island Boxing legend, and a Hollywood film Co. looking to utilize Rhode Islands talents and resources. This just goes to show, Rhode Island has all the opportunities to fulfill anyones dreams regardless of the nature. Rhode Island has a lot of great amenities. Its just having a goal, practicing colleague camaraderie, and networking all Rhode Islands great resources. Thanks for listening, Tama Girard
