Singer-songwriter Sylvia Tosun is hardly your standard-issue dance floor siren. The classically trained soprano was accepted at age 15 to the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where her studies included opera, composition and piano.
After a brief time with the NY Grand Opera Company, Tosun realized her true musical heart was more diverse than the classics she was studying, and she soon branched off into "Rock-Opera", landing a position as Lead Vocalist for the acclaimed Trans-Siberian Orchestra, where she was featured with the chart-topping act in numerous platinum-and gold-selling albums worldwide.
Tosun's first full-length project, 2002's "Anthem: Vol. 1," comprised world music anthems sung in their mother tongue from Israel, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Russia, Australia and the U.K. Inspired by her extensive volunteer work with the USO where she would sing regularly for military and foreign dignitaries, the project garnered international praise and served as a platform for Global Patriotism for the United Nations.

As co-founder of global full-service record company Sea To Sun Recordings, Tosun has meshed Electronica beats with her world music sensibility, catapulting her to the top of the International Dance Music Charts.
In 2010, "Push n Pull," a collaboration with Italian producers Noferini & Marini, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Club chart and top 5 on the U.K.'s Music Week Upfront Club list.
In all, she has scored nearly a dozen hits in the U.S. and Europe, including 2011's "World Keeps Turning" and "Above All"; 2009's "5 Reasons," a collaboration with Loverush UK! (the No. 1 Club track of the year on DMC's World Chart), 2008's "Underlying Feeling", 2007's "Head Over Heels", 2006's "Sanctuary" and 2005's "Sleepless."
As if that wasn't a lustrous enough calling card, Tosun is also a professional Interior Designer, who has designed NYC's most premiere rooftop lounge, 'Upstairs'. Translate that talent into an enlightened understanding of her own imaging: with high-energy and even higher-tech music videos directed by famed photographer Mike Ruiz and video/performance artist Bec Stupak; with styling by The Blonds (Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna). Also in Tosun's camp is four-time Grammy-winning mix engineer and Executive Producer, Tom Lord-Alge.
Her evolution across multiple genres has garnered Tosun a myriad of novel opportunities. In 2005, she was invited to perform at the Great Wall Concert in Beijing, China, alongside Alicia Keys and Cyndi Lauper, singing in Mandarin Chinese while suspended 100 feet in the air atop the Great Wall. She also developed and filmed "The Venus Concert," a stage show of original songs that aired on MTV's MHD Channel—the network's first alliance with an independent artist. In addition, Tosun performed at the United Nations' "First Ladies of the World" celebration, part of its International Women's Day.
Tracks from her second studio album, 2005's "Jump In", written in collaboration with Julie Flanders and Emil Adler of the cult band, October Project, have been featured on Showtime's "The L Word," ABC's "Beautiful People" and WB's "Dawson's Creek. Her skills as a songwriter and singer, and frequent contributor to charity organizations have merited a BMI Songwriters Hall of Fame Excellence in Songwriting Award, five USA Songwriting Contest trophies, two USO Ambassador to Goodwill Awards and kudos as Talent in Motion Magazine's Best Singer/Solo Artist.
Independent music label Sea To Sun Recordings, which Tosun founded in 2008 with songwriter and producer Anton Bass, is a global, full-service company offering A&R, in-house production, licensing, artist management, events and artist bookings. Its Global Frequency division administers publishing, in addition to producing a compilation CD series and hosting a weekly Friday night mix show streamed on Pulse87ny.com.
