Marcy Brown, lead vocalist for the Sweaty Betty Blues Band performed for 15 years in the tri-state area with Pittsburgh's renowned Jack Purcell Orchestra, a 12-piece Big Band, singing jazz standards. She has sung the National Anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates many times at Three Rivers Stadium and PNC Park, and performed with several wedding bands and rock bands before forming Sweaty Betty Blues Band with her husband, Bill Brown. Bill has performed as drummer and vocalist for over 30 years in many rock bands in the Butler and Kittanning areas, as well as many well-worn taverns as far south as Romney, West Virginia. He has since mastered the blues shuffle and adds a terrific dynamic to slow blues, driving the rhythm section through many varied tempos. .

On bass is Jim Spears, from Butler, Pa. Jim studied music in L.A. at the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California. He has performed with many great local, regional and nationally recognized musicians including Leslie Gore, B.E.Taylor, Little Anthony & The Imperials, The Platters, Sputzy & The Soul Providers, Tommy Roe, Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers, 8th Street Rox, and many others. He currently performs with R&B favorites, Vanilla Soul Revue, Soul Patrol, and his jazz group, Uptown Combo. We're honored to have Jim with us. He adds tremendous joy and enthusiasm to the shuffles and other blues tempos, not to mention fantastic chops! .Blues Guitarist Mark Passaro hails from North Huntingdon, PA. He lists Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, Roy Buchanan and Jimmie Vaughan, among others, as influences on his playing style. He's been playing in bands professionally and singing since his early teens both in Pennsylvania and Virginia with bands such as Gashouse, Steel City Blues, The Mystic Knights, Full House, and Eyewitness Blues. Mark builds his own guitars and amps, and also collects old vinyl records of country blues artists, and concert posters.
Sweaty Betty performed at the Pirate's PNC Park at the Montecristo Club, as well as the Pittsburgh Blues Festival at Hartwood Acres, the Carnegie Blues Festival, and the Indiana Music and Arts festival. They also perform for several charity organizations including the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, Special Olympics in Allegheny and Lawrence Counties, events for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research, and Adagio Health. Marcy Brown was instrumental in organizing and performing at the fifth annual BYE WEEK BLUES events for the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank at Moondog's Pub in Blawnox area of Pittsburgh, PA.

Lindy Hop dancers regularly include Sweaty Betty in their late-night dance events. The band's bluesy, jazzy, swinging style is perfect for jitterbugging into the wee hours.
Sweaty Betty also performed at the first Steeler's Pre Season game in 2009 at Heinz Field.
Sweaty Betty Blues Band performed again at the Pittsburgh Blues Festival at Hartwood Acres with Max Schang and Rich McDonough on guitars.
The band performs at several local wineries including Mt. Pleasant's Greendance Winery, Mastropietro Winery in Berlin Center, Ohio, and at La Casa Narcisi Winery in Gibsonia, PA.
The band also performs at Hollywood Gardens in Rochester, Kelly's Riverside Saloon in Bridgewater, and at the Sewickley Sons of Italy for the Christmas in July Street Celebration. E. Ohio Street's Park House is a new favorite venue for Sweaty Betty.
