"I love to make music. I love to create. I love to use the language of music to portray my life. To me it all comes from the same source, and my approach when encountering a project never differs. I have to live the music whether I am laying down tracks with DJs, sitting in my own apartment writing songs, playing the guitar, or making sound design for an art director. I love the versatility in working with music, and I am thankful to wake up every day knowing that I get to work with what I enjoy the most."

Sven Garas runs his own studio and makes his way producing for other clients, though he is currently working on a set of guitar-based pop songs he himself performs. The first track he presents is called One of Those Days, a song which accurately describes a feeling I guess we all know, when everything we get involved in seems to turn south.

"This is the first project where both my production skills and my abilities as a performer are put to the test. You cannot be a producer and an artist at the same time it is important to separate the roles. As long as you do that, there is no reason why the same person cannot have two roles. Fortunately, I have also had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and experienced people from the Norwegian pop music industry."

His productions and songwriting often reflect his background as a house DJ coupled with a strong preference for commercial pop music. When it comes to listening to music, a broad variety of both old and new music finds its way to his MP3 player.

"I am definitely not as genre-oriented when it comes to listening to music as to composing. I can find good music in every genre. And good music to me is music that gets my hearts attention, rather than my intellect. I guess I am also very much a song fan rather than a group or concept fan. And there is so much good music out there that I would say it is rather impossible to stay completely oriented. "

These days new and exciting business opportunities arise for those who are willing to take a risk. The music industry is in a rapid structural change and new technology gives possibilities of exposure and availability in a way no one could imagine ten years ago.

"Being a part of this revolution is so thrilling. I currently work on projects with people from other countries where our communication is based around the Internet. I think the most important ability of our age is to learn fast and move fast. The potential of every project is infinite. Looking at the way the business moves these days, everything is possible. I guess the only challenge is whether or not one is exposed, seen and heard within the vast stream of information and competition.

I always chase the ball. There is no fun in being defensive. I would rather crash and burn a few times and believe me I have than sit around and get nothing done. Obviously, I am also looking for people who can help me grow and people who believe that my contribution would be valuable to their project."

His strong drive to move forward is anchored in his approach to music

"To me, music needs direction. There has to be something more to it than just random notes and chord progressions. Regardless of how many elements a song contains whether it has lyrics or not all the elements must work together towards the same goal. Two people who truly master this are, in my opinion, Max Martin and Pharell Williams."

Music is all about communication between a sender and a receiver. The entire music business rotates on an axis of well-written songs.

"It makes me very happy whenever people understand me and what I try to convey through my music. On the other hand, I would never try to convince anyone nor force my musical preferences on others. I will continue to work hard to develop and maintain every skill needed to deliver the goods. In that way, I hope to broaden my experience and develop my musical language.

With my current pop project, I aim to share songs the listener can relate to, songs that in some way feel real to him or her in the same way the songs were real to me when they were conceived. And at the end of the day, that is what is important to me:

real music for real people!"
