Susan Salmon's passion for music began at age three, when she tried to pick out melodies on the piano keyboard she could barely reach. It is a passion that developed through her career as a professional musician, and years of performing, touring, and studying guitar, mandolin and violin. Now with the soon- to -be released Passion Works, this passion has been fully realized.
Recorded at the studio of producer Kit Worton, Passion Works Susan's mastery of the mandolin, supported by lush backing tracks of violin, Catherine Boyd, Suzanna Barnes and
acoustic guitar of Kit Worton and Michael Kraft. Susan is choosing only songs with which she feels a deep emotional connection. "I have always had a affinity for Latin and Italian music," Susan says of the preponderance of tangos and sambas."And the goal of the songs on this C.D. are to help the listener attain a certain mood--whether it's remembering an experience from the past or fantasizing about one in the now." It is this emotional resonance that gives the songs their immediacy, energy and yes, passion.
Sometimes as on "El Choclo," a restrained passion simmers beneath the surface. In other songs, such as the dynamic "Besame Mucho," Susan let's the sparks fly.
Susan's playing has been called"lyrical" and "evocative" by reviewers for the Atlantic City Weekly. With the release of Passion Works, listeners can hear for themselves. After all passion is meant to be shared.----------------------Susan began her professional career as a vocalist for the popular top 40 band "Ocean." performing in nightclubs at the Jersey shore.
