The Pop! EP released January 2009

Norwegian electro-pop trio SuperJupiter are set to kick off 2009 in technicolour with the release of their highly anticipated EP, ‘Pop!’ this January. Released through Planet Clique/Waterfall, the Pop! EP will feature four stunning new tracks, plus additional remixes, some of which will also appear on the band's as-yet-untitled long player, also set for release in 2009.

SuperJupiter set the stage for long-standing electro-pop infamy in 2006 with their debut pink vinyl, 'You Know’, described as ‘astonishing’ by the gurus at Popjustice. Since the storming sell-out success of these limited-edition neon-hued origins, SuperJupiter have been busy garnering a cult following on shores near and far, and are big in Japan. The Pop! EP emerges from the meticulous working and reworking of tracks from their dazzling live set into what will set the standard as 2009's ultimate long player - the year pop will surely kick a thousand faceless indie hopefuls into touch. Just check out lead track 'pop!' for starters, a 303-fest that would make Josh Wink proud.

Forget lazy comparisons to other bands claiming similar influences - Scissor Sisters this ain't! SuperJupiter concoct electrifying dance-floor pop that blends Dirty Mind-era Prince with David Lee Roth period Van Halen, borrowing from both glam-rock and hair-metal along the way. They take the best of post-disco, electro-funk and early 90's trance to produce a veritable smorgasbord of sounds that all come back to a magnetic obsession with pop at its very finest. The result will blow other electro-pop contenders out the water, with songs that are so infectious you’ll be singing them all day and dreaming about them all night.

The wonderboys behind SuperJupiter are singer Terje (prounounced Terry-yeah), who is the spit of James Bond-era Robert Carlyle. Hal 2000 (guitar and keyboards. who has recently outgrown ZZ Top in the beard stakes, while Ivar is the man who really can on the skins and switches. On co-production duties are Manhattan Clique (Katy Perry, Iglu & Hartly, Goldfrapp), while mixing desk madness comes via Drew Griffiths (Iron Maiden, The Darkness),

The 'Pop' EP has a track-listing as follows:

1. Pop!

2. Mystery Of Man

3. What Do You Want From Me?

4. In & Outta Love

It’s live on stage that SuperJupiter showcase their incomparable ability to deliver electro-pop perfection. Don’t miss out!

You Know

According to leading pop music web pundits Popjustice, who give it an ‘Amazingness Rating’ of 98%, and describe it as ‘astonishing', it sounds like Sparks and Scissor Sisters and The Bloodhound Gang and O-Zone doing 'Funkytown' and 'New Gold Dream' and '9 To 5'. To others, it sounds a bit like ABBA's ‘Does Your Mother Know’, and some people are even saying it reminds them of Junior Senior, without being quite so annoying…

It is, like all the best pop songs, almost a novelty record and almost a properly cool 'club' 'banger'. It's pop music that sounds like dance music and dance music that sounds like pop music. It includes the 'memorable' line "to heat things up I said I liked to lick my girlfriend's ass", it has a ludicrous metal spag-out in the middle eight, and it has anthem potential in every single nitespot from Hoxton to Tenerife (including leading London club Popjustice, where it has been 'tearing up the dancefloor' for the last few weeks). It has also attracted 6000 hits on www.myspace.com/superjupitermusic in just a few days. It is, basically, fucking ridiculous.
