*Welcome to Sunday Love Music!*A fan page/fan club dedicated to talented rockstar, Fefe Dobson!

Fefe Dobson is the classic definition of the modern day music artist. Signed to a major label deal with Island Def Jam at the tail end of the ‘golden years’ in 2003, the then 15 year old Scarborough, Ontario native was no where near reaching her stride. Still, she released her self-titled debut CD to much fanfare, selling over 304k stateside and going Platinum in Canada.

Singles “Bye Bye Boyfriend” and “Take Me Away” helped her secure the rough and tumble position that the major label was jockeying for her to own.It made her a mainstream staple. She also filled her passport with stamps from around the world opening for Justin Timberlake on his European tour. Back home in Canada, Fefe’s debut album earned her two Juno and three MuchMusic Video Award nominations as well as some hardware when she collected ‘Best New Solo Artist’ at the Canadian Radio Music Awards in 2004.

Fefe took up the torch for some great causes including the Make Poverty History and the Got Milk? campaigns.

Fefe came off the road after two years of devoted touring and growing up and started to work on her 2006 sophomore follow up, Sunday Love. The record company set her up to write with everyone from Cyndi Lauper to Tim Armstrong to Courtney Love to Joan Jett. Sounds like the recipe for success but as hindsight on the music business has taught us all about best laid marketing plans, the record never saw the light of day.

An album that unleashed Fefe’s emotions about success at a young age, controlling the males that had dominated her life, growing up and speaking up, it wasn’t the fluffy fizzy marshmallow chic pop that the label was looking to sell.

Fefe is strong-willed. She’s a survivor. She isn’t from some sleepy suburb of society where the biggest drug kids’ fight is the fluoride in their drinking water. She’s from Scarborough. Her family life is not cookie-cutter clean. Her father basically went MIA from her life when she was pre-kindergarten. Her mother had three more children with three different fathers.

Fefe had to fight the battle of being bi-racial throughout grade school, with scars that lasted well past the end of the school bell. And then she was taken for a ride in the music industry. With a fistful of influences, both lyrically and musically, that includes Guns N Roses, The Bee Gees, Bob Marley and Depeche Mode, Fefe’s music, you want to stop and listen to what this girl has to say.

Fefe lights up when you ask her about what she’s doing these days. She fancies herself a hermit – enjoying her own company and that of her recently adopted dog in her Toronto east side home.

She finds sanctuary in the artistic freedom she’s gained through smart investing with her major label experience. She’s twenty-three going on yoda in terms of being comfortable in her own skin. Her writing reflects the twinkle in her eye that sparkles when you talk about her life now. It’s lighter. It’s more positive. She’s a deeply emotional writer that can teach us all a thing or two about life.

In the past two years she’s written songs for other artists, including the hit second single “Start All Over” for the multi-platinum selling Miley Cyrus’ cd for Hannah Montana 2. Fefe’s also had a brand new song of hers, “Watch Me More”, featured on the tv series Lipstick Jungle and has just found out that “Watch Me More” will be the theme song for comedian Margaret Cho’s upcoming fall tv sitcom.

Fefe is currently in Venice Beach, California writing and recording songs for her upcoming, yet unsigned, album with jazz guitarist / singer songwriter Dave Lichens. Is she afraid of what happened to her before happening again? That mischievous twinkle in her eye makes me think that Fefe’s got the world by it’s tail this time around.
