The band's name derived from the name of a flower, a water lily, written as a sleeping lotus in Chinese characters.



Suilen’s music is like a lotus flower made of thin glasses.

As the band name describes, Shakuyaku's voice is graceful and mesmerizing.

When she sings in either English or Japanese, the echoes of her voice take you to the Asianesk journey with her skewed nursery-rhymes.



Contrary, Maki is an electronic-noise wizard.

His unique vision of new music style exceeds beyond the listeners' expectations.

As he refines the melody Shakuyaku resonates, he adds mechanical noises and gradually takes you to the dark industrial world.



Their music stimulates your senses and teases your soul.

Then it leaves you unsettled like cold electric shocks rushing all over you.

The hidden melody rooted inside Japanese souls has sometimes lost its place in modern Japanese pop culture.

Shakuyaku has been pursuing her musical carrier as a singer/ songwriter since 2000.

With her born musical talent, she has wrote many songs on her own or through collaborations.

But, when her ultimate partner, Maki finally came arrive, Suilen was on the way to the great creation.

He has found her demo tape by accident in his record agency one day.

Maki has been contributing Japanese music scenes for years as a main member of popular electronic/industrial bands Soft ballet and Schaft,

and his success has been recognized by those bands' popularity and success.

His search has turned the perfect ending when he met Shakuyaku, exactly someone in his mind, who can collaborate with his charismatic music style.



The melody resonates inside of Shakuyaku is the hidden sensuality of Japanese beauty.

It's so mesmerizing like a message deeply goes into your DNA.
