De Sugar Cake Girls

Fiona, Sarah and Shabana form Guyana's number 1 Chutney-Soca group: De Sugar Cake Girls. They are one of the most popular Chutney-Soca Group of this generation.



The group was formed 8 years ago and has since been a vital part of the El Sadiek Band. The Sugar Cake Girls consists of Fiona, Sarah and Shabana. They are very energetic on stage and their shows are always live. They also love to interact with the crowd while they perform.



FIONA: Fiona became popular with her first release "Stupidy", which was a big hit in the Caribbean, Canada and the USA. Fiona's new releases are "Lall Madhu" and "Bread and Cheese", which are also doing very well in the Caribbean, Canada and the USA. Not only is "Lall Madu" an extremely catchy song, the video is smashing!



SARAH: Sarah's first single is "Queen of Chutney Soca" and her latest release is "Sexy Sexy" featuring Young Fame/Fojo (a very talented DJ from Guyana). Sarah's new song is being received very well; especially with the young folks. The video for her new song will be coming out shortly, so.Look out for it!



SHABANA: Apart from being one of the trio, Shabana is the only female Indian keyboard player in Guyana, and perhaps the Caribbean. Shabana is also the jewel in teh El Sadiek Band and does justice to her role as keyboard player and as a very spicy Sugar Cake Girl. Shabana's first release "Bassidy" is an Indian-Chutney song and you can see her play the keyboard in the video. Shabana has backed lots of Chutney Artists alongside the El Sadiek Band; from Rikki Jai, to Hitman, to Terry Gajraj and Vedesh Sookoo.



The Sugar Cake Girls promote Guyanese girl power and believe in equal rights for women. Since the girls are extremely talented, they are in high demand these days. They have toured Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and Canada. De Sugar Cake Girls are always a crowd pleaser in Guyana at all the big shows (Impulse, Live Aid) with international artists like Alison Hinds and Rupee to name a few.
