.Substatic, an alternative-electronic act hailing from Bristol, have built up a reputation as one of the most exciting, dynamic and engaging acts to come out of the city with their own unique take on today's dance/electro scene.
Producer Alex Holmes takes influences from electronic pioneers such as Orbital and Justice, to infuse gritty breaks with deep, resonating basses, ensuring maximum impact on the dancefloor. Combined with the vibrant and sultry vocals of Colleen Quinn, the duo deliver a bold and captivating performance, creating a buzz based on word of mouth gleaned from their electric live shows.
From playing intimate venues such as The Macbeth and Punk in London, to larger stages, making their debut festival appearance at The Isle of Wight and V Festivals in 2009 and headlining in their hometown for Bristol Festival and The Harbourside Fringe, Substatic's following is growing larger by the minute.
Recently collaborating with highly acclaimed US-based hip-hop artist Zilla Rocca, they have seen remixes championed by the likes of Pete Tong, DJ Food & DK and the Ninja Tune Solid Steel Radio Show. Substatic have performed with Kosheen, Fenech-Soler, Crystal Fighters, Dub Pistols, High Contrast, Handsome Furs, The Rumble Strips, Two Door Cinema Club, Micachu & Ninja tune's Daedelus.
Their debut EP 'Days Go On' was released in may 2010 to critical acclaim, shortly followed by an EP of remixes. For the last 6 months Substatic have been locked away in the studio experimenting with synths and working on their forthcoming album. One of the tracks 'Gold' is available as part of the Electronic Rumors Vol.1 compilation out Feb 13th 2012 on NinthWave Records, and they will be previewing new tracks at the launch party on the 10th of February at 93 Feet East.
