The idea for Street Fighting Man was born between long-time friends Adel Dahdal(Australia/Sweden) and Eric Turner(Boston, US) in 2005, in Stockholm. But it wasn't until the end of 2006 that the band finally began to take shape. Drummer, and now fulltime member, Henrik Holmlund(Sweden) joined the band in 2007, and shortly after they played a host of shows at such Stockholm establishments as Debaser, Mosebacke, Landet, Södermalm, Trädgården and released their first single "Raise It" on their own label Idea Of Control.
Both the song and the video was widely critically acclaimed for it's well balanced mix of honest visual/musical art and infectious singalong groove. Raise It gained airplay on local swedish radio aswell as frequent rotation on both MTV and ZTV. (To public request also, some of the video-artwork was later auctioned in pieces and sold out to high profile bidders within a few hours.)
Except for performances at the Peace & Love and Rookie festivals in 2008, the band has remained relatively quiet over the past year while working on their debut album which is due to be finished late 2010.
What we can expect: the band's unique brand of internationally tinged rock that infuses Turner's gospelesque vocals with lyrics that dish up a strong critique on the state of the modern world. Along with aswell the musical and stage presence of these charismatic individuals promises that this is a band that may not stay underground for long. oh, and let's not forget the fantastic artwork that has become the bands signature visuals, and seems to accompany them wherever they go.
Keep an eye(and ear) out for these guys!
