Gli STONED MACHINE nascono nel gennaio del 2003 a Ravenna da un gruppo di musicisti che si conoscono da tempo, alcuni dei quali hanno militato in passato in band di un certo rispetto, sia a livello locale, che nell'underground nazionale (SOUNDBLAST, PRIMA LINEA, MALASTRANA).
L'intento è quello di dare sfogo alla passione comune per lo STONER, genere cupo e pesante portato in auge dai KYUSS nei primi anni 90, e di costruire fin da subito un repertorio di pezzi propri, caratterizzati da riffs granitici e ripetitivi, accordature ribassate, e linee vocali graffianti ed incisive.
Dopo alcuni cambi di formazione, che hanno visto far parte della band Igor " Rosas" Rosetti, Matteo "Casadillo" Casadei (voce dei forlivesi BLASTEMA), e Stefano "Garcia" Ghetti (membro fondatore della band) la line up definitiva comprende:
• Luca "Hernadez" Damassa alla voce,
• Mauro "Sampedro" Giorgi alle chitarre e cori,
• Filippo "Felipe" Petrini al basso,
• Fabio " Castillo " Alessandrini - Batteria
Il concetto principale attorno alla quale ruotano le idee che generano liriche e musiche degli STONED MACHINE, è la regressione umana, sul quale viene creato anche il logo del gruppo. Per regressione si intende la necessità da parte dell'uomo di ritrovare la propria umanità, schiacciata ormai da un progresso fuori controllo e da una tecnologia che, pur facilitandone la vita, lo rendono anche schiavo delle macchine da egli stesso inventate.
Dopo anni di concerti nei locali della zona, un demo autoprodotto, una partecipazione alla compilation DESERT SOUND vol.2 (prodotta dal sito web Perkele con il brano HUMAN REGRESSION), e qualche supporto a band di importanza internazionale (Brant Byork, Dredg, Karma to Burn) nel 2007 nasce la collaborazione con l'agenzia ALKEMIST FANATIX EUROPE, che, nel corso del 2009, porterà la band a firmare un contratto con l'etichetta inglese COPRO RECORDS.
Finalmente, nell'autunno dello stesso anno, vengono effettuate le registrazioni dell'album d'esordio al REALSOUND STUDIO nei pressi di Parma, che si intitola appunto HUMAN REGRESSION, e contiene i 10 brani che meglio esprimono il concetto da sempre espresso dalla band. Mixato sempre al REALSOUND STUDIO, e masterizzato nei prestigiosi FINNVOX STUDIOS di Helsinki in Finlandia, il disco è in vendita da ottobre 2010.

STONED MACHINE was born in January 2003 in Ravenna. It formed from a group of musicians who had know each other for a while, musicians who had performed in bands who gained respect and some degree of fame, both at the local level and within the national underground (SOUNDBLAST, PRIMA LINEA, MALASTRANA). Our goal is to release our common passion for the STONER genre, a dark and heavy genre initiated by KYUSS in the early 90's. From the very beginning, we established a repertoire of our own compositions, made of granitic and repeated riffs, dropped tuning , and razor-sharp vocals. A few members have come and gone: after Matteo "Casadillo" Casadei (voice of BLASTEMA from Forli'), and Stefano "Garcia" Ghetti (one of the band's founders)
The final lineup comprises:
• Luca "Hernadez" Damassa at the vocals,
• Mauro "Sampedro" Giorgi at the guitar and back vocals,
• Filippo "Felipe" Petrini at the bass guitar,
• Igor "Rosas" Rosetti at the drums.
The main concept around which the lyrics and music of STONED MACHINE revolve is human regression, a concept also represented in the band's logo. Regression is intended as the human beings' need to rediscover their own humanity, which is continuously squashed by a progress that's gone out of control and by a technology that, despite making our lives easier, make us slaves to the machines we invented.
After years of concerts in local venues, a self-produced demo, a participation in the DESERT SOUND vol.2 compilation produced by website Perkele (where STONED MACHINE featured with the song HUMAN REGRESSION), and opening acts to internationally famous bands (Brant Byork, Dredg, Karma to Burn), in 2007 STONED MACHINE started collaborating with agency ALKEMIST FANATIX EUROPE, who brought the band to sign a contract with English label COPRO RECORDS in 2009. In the Fall of the same year, the debut album was recorded at REALSOUND STUDIO near Parma.
The album is titled HUMAN REGRESSION, and features the 10 songs that best express the concept the band is based on. The album was mixed at REALSOUND STUDIO and was mastered in the prestigious FINNVOX STUDIOS in Helsinki, Finland, and is due to be released in October 2010.
