Aiming to make it on the international music scene and convinced to have what it takes to do so, 5 young Quebec City musicians got together as STILL MY QUEEN four years ago on the assumption that they would one day rule the pop world.
Remaining true to their attitude, vision and ambitions, they combine heart, hard work, streaming sweat and catchy anthems to create STILL MY QUEEN’S authentic sound and personality.
During the first couple of years, STILL MY QUEEN relentlessly played on the local scene sharing the stage with acts like Goldfinger, Silverstein, No Use for a Name and The Weakerthans. After their first Eastern Canadian tour in 2005, the band got in studio to record what would be their first full length album. Released in February 2006, "Make It Happen." presented a collection of 10 solid rock songs produced by Louis "Fire Lewis" Mercier and mastered by New York technician Alan Douches (Brand New, Thrice, Saves the Day, Fall Out Boy).
The album is an open window on the five guys’ hopes and dreams as well as a positive musical outlook on life. "Our band is a happy band, explains Simon. The music we're making is the music we like to hear. We're not trying to follow a trend just because it is what's selling right now. We've always been pretty simple people." Soon, this simplicity, along with their positive energy, fun-loving personalities and unique charisma proved them right: In one year, more than 2000 copies of their first album had been sold.
This singular energy definitely transpires onstage; as the five musicians give the best they got, every time, to deliver unforgettable live performances. In 2006, in between two successful tours in June and October, they got to chance to showcase their talent in more than one occasion, giving passionate performances in prestigious events like Woodstock en Beauce and the Quebec City International Summer Festival, alongside The All-American Rejects and MxPx.
Last September, STILL MY QUEEN also launched the video for The Golden Years, in a pub loaded of fans and supporters in Montreal and taped an interview for 123PUNK, broadcasted on Musique Plus last March. Lately, the band headed for Toronto to work with producer Murray Daigle on the recording of a three-song demo that sets the tone for the second album the band members are now working on.
From the very start, Guillaume (Dick) Boivin (vocals), Stephane Valois (guitar, vocals), Pier-Luc "Pluke" Thibault (guitar), Simon Dorval (bass, vocals) et Jay-P (drums) have at heart to manage their project the professional way. Confident about the strong experience they earned during the last four years, they are now ready to take the next step towards a professional career in the music industry.
