Fresh off his 'Endless Summer Tour Down Under' where he shared the stage with Sting during the New Zealand leg of his Symphonicity Tour, Williams is back home gearing up to release his highly anticipated second album, 'Something Real'.
Rod Williams is a singer, songwriter and guitarist with a multi-textured tenor voice and country-rock sound that shows off his Texas roots. Think cross between country star Keith Urban and rocker Brett Scallions from the band Fuel and you might come close.
Born and raised in Conroe Texas, Williams grew up in a family of singers. Williams' mother, Karen, sung in the church choir while older brother, Brad, was destined for the opera stage. An avid Beatles fan growing up, it's no surprise that Williams' calling was rock'n'roll.
A timely introduction to five times Grammy nominated producer Randy Miller, saw the pair work magic with Williams' debut album, 'Beautiful Again'. The title track ended up as the sound track for the second season of 'The Hill's'. Williams went on to tour extensively in the US and abroad, performing alongside some of the best rockers in the business - Counting Crows, Vertical Horizon, the Goo Goo Dolls, Chris Daughtry, and Charlie Robison.
But it's a dream come true for Williams to be returning to the big stage with a new album having been through many personal hardships since the signing of his band, Stillife, out of Houston in 2005 with Warner indie label SMG. Sidelined for almost two years with a torn larynx, doctors wanted to operate but Williams refused seeking alternative therapy, miraculously bringing his voice back to life. Add a string of toxic relationships and professional disappointments and you have the recipe for some killer jaded songs about life and love. Williams' tenacity, passion and courage to power through anything, no matter what, shines through his latest offering.
Also known for his huge heart, Williams' serves as Music Ambassador for Houston-based charity, 'The Children's Music Foundation', as well as helping raise money and awareness in the US with his song 'Warrior' for the Wounded Warriors returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
