Standek war bis zum Jahr 2004 nur der letzte Funkspruch eines über den Anden abgestürtzten Flugzeuges. Seit Gründung der Band in eben genanntem Jahr widmen sich vier Musiker der Aufgabe, diesem bis heute nicht entziffertem Funkspruch eine Bedeutung zu verleihen.



Standek machen experimentellen Indie und Post-Rock, der auf kilometerweite Gitarren, treibenden Bass, scheppernde Drums und einige Synthesizer-Einsätze mauert.



Die ersten geplanten Aufnahmen führt die Band aus Thüringen nach Schweden. "Beautiful Disease" wird 2005 in Hultsfred produziert. Im April 2007 folgt ihr Debüt "The Force Of Habit", dass kurze Zeit später auch online erhältlich ist [MotorDigital]. Im Herbst 2009 erschien ihr zweiter Longplayer "Levitation", mit dem sich die Band wieder zurück auf ihre in der EP verankerten Wurzeln besinnt.

Until 2004 STANDEK was simply the last radio message from an aeroplane which crashed in the Andes. Since the foundation of the band in that same year, four musicians strive to give that still enigmatic radio message a meaning.



STANDEK make experimental indie, electronic at times, mostly atmospheric with an invariable love for post rock – a sound steeped in deep guitar, impelling bass and some synthesizer sequences. Besides that, an unrestrained voice with the rough edges it takes to lend the songs that goose bump feeling otherwise hard to match and so profoundly expressed in '' I cant believe'' and ''You get what you give''.



Their first planned recording will take the quartet from Thuringia to Sweden. ''Beautiful Disease'' was produced in Hultsfred in 2005, followed by their debut, ''The Force of Habit',' in 2007 which was available online (MotorDigital) shortly afterwards. Their second LP, ''Levitation'', was released in the autumn of 2009, which brought the band back to their EP roots.
