Squirtgun debuted on the punk scene in 1995, appearing first with the opening song ("Social") to the hit film Mallrats and their debut album on Lookout! Records. The following two years including tours with BLINK-182, the QUEERS, the BOUNCING SOULS, LESS THAN JAKE, NOFX, AT THE DRIVE IN, and many more reknowned punk bands. Their video for the song "Mary Ann," guest starring Dawn Wells (who portrayed the namesake of the song in the 60's television series Gilligan's Island) was released in 1997, and reached MTV's 120 Minutes top 40 videos for May of 1997. In 1999, the band went on hiatus, while band members Flav Giorgini and Matt Hart worked on advanced degrees, and Mass Giorgini and Dan Lumley joined SCREECHING WEASEL and COMMON RIDER. Lumley also contributed drums to albums by the RIVERDALES, the METHADONES, and EVEN IN BLACKOUTS.

Bassist Mass Giorgini is also a reknowned punk rock producer, having worked on records for ANTI-FLAG, RISE AGAINST, the QUEERS, the CODE, the METHADONES, and also with artists such as Billie Joe Armstrong of GREEN DAY, and Kris Roe of the ATARIS. Squirtgun guitarist Flav Giorgini was the designing force behind Guitarpunk guitars, designing signature models for Matt Skiba and Dan Andriano of ALKALINE TRIO, and building guitars used by bands as diverse as ALLISTER, GWAR, and MONSTER MAGNET.

After a four-year absence, SQUIRTGUN returned, releasing their strongest album yet, Fade to Bright, on Honest Don's Records (Fat Wreck) in late 2003. Squirtgun toured the US and UK during 2003-2004 in support of Fade To Bright, including dates with the ATARIS. 2009 saw the release of a new CD, Broadcast 02.09.08 on Kid Tested Records. Squirtgun has plans to tour the US, UK, and Europe in the summer of 2009.
