Born in Barbados, now living in Wash DC. - You can find me in the local hot spots blazing the greatest Caribbean music - old and new. My favorite hiding place is my studio, whether I'm recording, mixing, mastering, broadcasting, voicing, politicking or just networking, that's where I love to be.who am I? SPYDA THE DJ, not to be mistaken for any others (spiders spyders or spidas), shouts to all other DJ's and performers out there by the way. Entertainment has ran through my veins since I was in my mothers belly I guess, this is to show you that I've always known myself to be a entertainer, there was no realizing, it was always there, like a way of life. My grandfather had a extensive collection of records, gospel, country hmm, that's about it, no reggae or soca in that house "lol", but I still managed to get in his groove and jam with him, you could call me his Lil' Selecta, Sista Marshall or Joseph Niles?, no prob! I got it on the wheels. Although I'm sure that he didn’t know those simple happy days would give me the foundation to be a professional dj today, I am sure that he's proud of his Lil Selecta. Next step was school, I was fortunate that I was born and raised in the Caribbean (nothing like it) and I went to school walking distance, so before and after school, I would be taking apart and and putting back together everything that made noise and had to be plugged in.yes I ran the PA system @ school, and boy was it fun, who else gets to play reggae music b4 assembly.yup those were the days, although it was alota fun I still had lots of respect, it's not like I was blasting the thing, but when speakers were set up (2 hrs b4 assembly lol).I'd just run some tune lowwww, and students would gather round, teacher passed by.Music offSIMPLE, these were all things that came natural to me, born entertainer. As I got older I learned more, got more refined, had a lil gig in a clothing store (Rue Rue) that was owned by the madd comedians, this sure was lots of fun, although I wasn’t paid much I didn't seem to mind catching the bus.w/ RECORDS, buying some more records while I was in town, having to buy food and still catch the bus back home, you know why I didn’t mindcause I Fcukin loved it.and this is probally why I'm still a dj now, because I love what I do and how I make ppl feel.that's it for now boys and girls.PEACE.
