VERBAL ASSASSIN

Born & raised in New Jersey, Verbal Assassin is a very talented, aspiring rapper / songwriter from Montclair. He has surrounded himself with music from a very early age.



At the age of 8, he started writing down his lyrics and he even surprised his teachers with his skills. When he turned 13, Verbal was approached with the opportunity to do music professionally but due to circumstances he could not control, it never came to pass. Verbal then decided to join the local drill team playing the drums. He self-taught himself how to play every single drum, from the snare & bass to the trips & quads. He played with them for 5 years. He graduated high school & then life took over.



Verbal was raised by a strong single mother but being faced with the challenges of being a young black male without a father, he had turned to the streets. He has done some things that he is not proud of and over the years he has seen his team diminish due to jail, drugs & caskets. in this time, Verbal was blessed with 2 children (a girl & a boy), but that also meant he had to go extra hard. So Verbal turned back to his music. He started writing again, got back in the studio and started doing shows. He acquired the name Verbal Assassin because he has always had a way with words. He released his 1st mixtape “Friend or Foe” in 2007.



Verbal Had a vision of starting his own record label so he persevered through all the hate & doubt . He built D.T.A. RecordZ from the ground up. Today, there are currently 7 artists on the label and they are growing everyday. With genres ranging from rap, hip-hop and r&b to lyrical, christian rap & country. He built his own studio and has become a master working with Pro Tools.



Verbal’s highly anticipated 2nd mixtape “Play Timez Ova” was released on May 19, 2009. He has grown so much as an artist and he's only becoming more skilled, so make sure you keep your eye on him.



Verbal is currently working on his 3rd project, which is due to be released in July 2009. He is also working on the D.T.A. compilation and of course, overseeing all the other projects from the D.TA. RecordZ family. He is scheduling trips to Miami, Atlanta & North Carolina for July to do promoting. He has a lot on his plate & is a very busy man but he knows he can handle it. He has built a company that he can be very proud of & he is nowhere near done, he’s only just beginning.
