Space started as a 3-piece band in 1995, but Tommy Scott (vocals/guitar) is the only member to survive from the original line-up. These days he is joined by Dave "Yorkie" Palmer (bass), Leon Caffrey (drums) and Franny Griffiths (keyboards). Jamie Murphy (guitar/vocals) now plays in a band called firehead.

After the success of the first 2 albums, spawning such hits as "Neighbourhood, "Female of the Species", "Me and You vs the World", "Avenging Angels" and "The Ballad of Tom Jones", space came back with a third album in the year 2000, only to have the comeback single "Diary of a Wimp" chart at 49 after receiving no support from their record label. A lengthy legal dispute meant that the album "Love You More Than Football" was never released, and the band were thought by most to have disbanded.

Space returned in 2004, however, with its present line-up, and minus Murphy, to release a fourth album, "Suburban Rock'n'Roll", and three singles, "Zombies", "Suburban Rock'n'Roll" and "20 Million Miles From Earth".
