We started out back in 1992 under the name Snake Machine and it was our aim to play loud and dirty as hell garage rock in the vein of Mudhoney, The Stooges and Monster Magnet. The early years served more as a learning period for us in the band and after a short trip into space rock inspired territory we ended up with the sound we have to this day. With the refined sound we also decided to change the name of the band, so in early 1997 Space Probe Taurus was born (the name is taken from a 1965 sci-fi movie).

Our music have mostly been compared to bands like Mudhoney, The Stooges, early Monster Magnet, MC5 & Blue Cheer. The music is heavily influenced by the late 60's psych rock scene as well as the fuzzed out rock instrumentals used in biker movies from that same era.
There have been a couple of different line-ups in the past, but the one remaining member has always been the vocalist/guitarist Sjoberg.
We have released one EP, Insect City (released by US label Game Two Records). We've also been featured on a Blue Cheer Tribute CD as well as a whole bunch of compilations (for more info on our releases, check out the discography blogs on this page as well as the discography photo gallery).

And on July 4th 2008 our first and self-titled album was finally released (more or less on the band's 16th birthday), to very good reviews, by the Belgian label Buzzville Records.
Our music is also featured in Actress Apocalypse - a sexy, psychedelic mockumentary from Director Richard R. Anasky which exploits the insanity that goes into the making of an underground film, as well as having a 14 track soundtrack CD included in the DVD package itself. We also have a song on the soundtrack to Director Richard R. Anasky's upcoming film I Am Vengeance (the psychedelic trip out of David William Hughes). We also have music featured on the Director Tim Ritter's Dirty Cop DVD. And as we are such gore hounds, we also have a couple of tracks featured in the australian gore/cannibal movie "Bring Her Home: Dead Or Alive" by director Matthew Scott.

Since the recording of the album (which took place back in 2004/2005) we have been busy working on new material, which have surfaced on the three demos "Peace, Love & Satan", "Who's Along for the Revolution?" and "The Embla Sessions". And we are currently in the middle of working on more material for a new demo, and after that we will start working on the second Space Probe Taurus album. So, there should be a lot more loud fuzz rock coming your way in 2010/2011!
