Info from Warner Music about donkeyboy:
Once in a blue moon a song pops up that's so catchy that you need penicillin to get it out of your head.
Ambitions is such a song.
The Norwegian quintet donkeyboy hails from Drammen just outside Oslo and make music so radio friendly that you instantly understand why Nikola Tesla just had to invent the radio.
Ambitions has truly paved the way for donkeyboy's debut album CAUGHT IN A LIFE. The single has (so far) spent 28 weeks on the Norwegian charts – 12 of these weeks occupying the top spot!
Ambitions was pushed down to second place by the single Sometimes by, you guessed it… donkeyboy.
You know you're doing something right when the only real competition is your own band.
Not a bad start for a young band, but a daunting one. How to follow up these two classic singles with an album? Lesser bands have failed before them, but these young whippersnappers are fearless when it comes to pop music.
CAUGHT IN A LIFE shows without a doubt that this band is in it for the long haul.
From the opening track Stereolife, lead by the helium voiced Kent Sundberg, donkeyboy takes us on a rollercoaster complete with retro loops, futuristic climbs and classic pop drops until your heart threatens to jump out of your ribcage, before the title track brings this joyride to a natural conclusion with its majestic chords and panoramic sound.
donkeyboy will, if pushed, be willing to call their music "retro fresh".
Well, the music speaks for itself, and in this short period of time donkeyboy has been nominated for "Best Norwegian Act" at the MTV EMA and the band has been chosen as support act for a-ha here in Norway and also on the U.K. leg of the their tour.
Somehow we think it will take more than penicillin to make this band go away. And for that we are truly proud and grateful.
Enjoy!
