Soul Elevation

Soul Elevation, a group established in 2001, is a collaborative force between Toquon and DJ Icy Ice of the World Famous Beat Junkies. The duo met in '98, working together in the Los Angeles club scene. They soon discovered that they had an incredible chemistry that brought the crowds to a frenzy. In and out of touch for the next few years the two ran into each other at a De La Soul concert at the House of Blues. Ice asked Toquon to join him on a tour in the Philippines, there the two decided to officially become a group. Not yet having a name for the group the two continued the tour, performing at various clubs, television appearances and radio spots. They created such a buzz that they were invited back to the Philippines to perform at the 2002 MTV Spring Break Beach Party this time as Soul Elevation. Toquon decided to name the group Soul Elevation based on the responses they received from admires who witnessed their ability to lift the spirits of the crowd. Returning back to the states for two weeks to do some recordings, the two were then off again this time to Sydney Australia to blaze the club circuit with their high energy performances.



The group continued to perform across the United States touching different cities such as Denver, Houston, and Chicago and of course Los Angeles gracing the stage with the likes of The Black Eye Peas, DJ Quik and the legendary Rakim. The group then had the pleasure to be a part of one of the biggest events in hip hop called Rock the Bells which brought you great acts such as the Wu-Tang Clan, Redman, Jurassic 5, Cypress Hill, Tribe Called Quest, Nas, and many others.



Soul Elevation is currently completing their album "Love, Peace and Soul Elevation" giving them the opportunity to work with artists and producers such as Akil from Jurassic 5, Piakon, Nando of Top Rawmen, DJ Rhettmatic of the World Famous Beat Junkies and Sa-ra Creative Partners who is responsible for giving banging tracks for Common, Pharaoh Monach, Bilal and Jurassic 5 just to name a few. This project is a firm effort to raise the consciousness of the youth and bring balance to the world of hip hop. Soul Elevation brings a style that is influenced by the days of when hip hop was pure and uncut, embracing the spirit of Run DMC, Big Daddy Kane, and KRS 1 all the way to the likes of Gangstarr, De La Soul and the Goodie Mob Soul Elevation will be a presence in the struggle of hip hop for years to come.
