Panic Trigger formed in January 2006, in the music rich city of Detroit, MI.  In the space of a year, while building a fan base one at a time, Panic Trigger caught the attention of WRIF radio’s program director Doug Podell. The roller coaster ride started right then and there, with radio air play, interviews, and big shows, including the station’s annual “Harley Fest” motorcycle rally which draws over 20,000 people.

It was at this event the group proved that “the show must go on” is not merely a cliché but in fact, words to live by. Minutes before the band was scheduled to perform, an overzealous fan jumped on to the back of lead singer Kevin Kanka piggyback style. The stunt sent the singer falling to the ground, and tearing his A.C.L. in his left knee. Despite the pain, Kevin gathered his courage and performed for a crowd of 4,000, without the audience or promoters even knowing about the injury. There are moments in life that define a man’s character. That was one of Kevin’s.

Bassist John Massey is the classic story of a small town boy with a dream. John moved to Detroit with $50.00, his bass guitar, and the sofa of the one person he knew there to sleep on from Munger, MI (population 3,000).

Guitarist Tommy Furbacher is the virtuoso of Panic Trigger. His ability to play with passion and “feel” combined with music theory is amazing. Tom is also one of the most humble and likable people a person could know.

Drummer Ken Thomas is in many ways the heart and soul of Panic Trigger . He is the organizer, the guy who gets things done, and the one who pounds the pavement harder than most anyone. Ken’s upbeat personality, sense of humor, and “in the pocket” drumming make him one of a kind.
