I started playing the saxophone and singing when I was 15. Joined a variety theater for a few years and then studied in new york. I'm working with different artists and I'm teaching as well. At present I'm collecting the material for my first album and hopefully it will be ready in an reasonable period of time.

SONJA plays the saxophone smoothly and mesmerizes you w/ her smokey sound, a bit Sanborn a bit Getz, but its her personal touch that makes the difference. Her jazzy influence is heard in her vocal phrasing. The songs are reflecting emotions and thoughts about love, desire, war, peace and life in general SONJA is a unique and charismatic artist both combining musical know how with female expression and womanpower. What music? Together with ZUR BEN ZEEV (that musically produced OFRA HAZA, TONY PIERSON and other artists) they have come up with a rich sound texture that complements Sonja's original songs and talents. Funky rhythms and jazzy lines, ethnic elements, guitars by GADI BEN ELISHA and some groovy R&B that give the music a special edge. Sunset in Jerusalem is remixed by London seated HADAS TRAININ (DASSY).YAIR DALAL plays the soulfull oud, GADI BEN CHAIM on guitars, YAIR STAVI keys and NIR SEGAL is drumming.HADAS also helped to mix up the potion on Good Time and has added a different flava to the brew. Since SONJA lives in Israel, at the heart of the Middle East conflict, SONJA's writing is a consequence of that situation. With the PEACE MAKERS and the positive vibes, they are contributing their part to the healing process that, according to them, is what is needed for our planet not to be deleted.
