My venture into dance music started around 1998. At the time I was playing keyboards for a solo artist here in LA doing some recording and touring. During this time i was also getting increasingly more interested in writing and producing dance music and spent much of my time developing my programming skills and building up my home studio. I initially worked with a few singers and writers while finding my niche.
Meanwhile, I was asked if i would be interested in doing some keyboards for a demo for my good friend, Ms. Erin Hamilton. She wanted to cover the Gary wright classic "Dream Weaver" but wanted to remake it with an alternative vibe. I had a different idea in that it might work well as a club track so we recorded Erins vocals and i produced the track. After testing the mix out in a club, The track was picked up by "trax recording" here in LA and Erin and i went on to record an entire record for the label entitled "One World" which was released in October of 1999. Other songs from the CD which became singles were "The Flame", "Satisfied" and "The Temple".
during the recording of the record i took on the alias "SOLAR CITY" and began my new journey.
Other artists and projects that I've been involved with either by producing, writing or remixing
include Tiffany, Lonnie Gordon, E.G.Daily, Sharyl lee Ralph, Matt Zarley, Wicked Queen, Blue Girl, Sharon T. ,Lucy Lawless just to name a few and many of which which have climbed up the charts including Siria, Kaci Brown, Ari Gold, Paul Lekakis, Pepper MaShay, "Just Like That" from Amber, and all 4 Debby Holiday singles! More recently I have had the pleasure of doing mixes for Mona Chatterjee, Noa Tylo, Johnny Hazzard, Jason Antone, Prima J., Pleasure Center and more.
In 2005 I was music supervisor and appeared in the documentary "Naked Fame" which follows the life or recording artist/ adult film star Colton Ford whom I've produced two songs with - both which appear in the film. I also co-wrote and produced the title song for the movie which was performed by hot new dance Diva, Melissa G.
Also on the soundtrack is an unreleased acoustic mix of "Sweet Angel" by Hamilton and ALSO my radio mix of "Naughty Girls Need love too" by Samantha Fox which she re recorded new vocals for!
I've had many other songs placed in various indi films, TV and music compilations including an original track entitled "The music turns me on" which can be heard in the film "Circuit". "Dream Weaver" is in the movie "Trick" and "You and me (feels so good)" by Pepper MaShay is in "Queer as Folk" and also "Natoional Lampoon's Dorm Daze". I also have 2 tracks included in the film "Hellbent".
Another mix I did with my buddy Dj Casey Alva is the Theme to "Dante's Cove" which airs on HERE! TV called "Dying to be with You".
I've done many mixes which haven't been commercially released but have been favorites on the dance floor including "Im Not Sleeping" from Tiffany along with Wild Orchid "On the Floor", Pussycat Dolls "stickwitu", Christina Aguilera "Aint No Other Man" as well as "Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake and "Fergalicious" by Fergie and most recently Britney Spears "Gimme More"
I definitely enjoy collaborating with fellow music producers, dj's, songwriters, etc. On the "SOLAR CITY" ship I've been working closely with Aaron Paetsch in Canada. Aaron is a stickler for detail and doesnt miss a beat. Over the years I have worked on remixes with the infamous DJ Rico and I have also done many productions with fellow programmer/producer Rich Alick here in LA. Currently I have also done some song writing collaborations with David Todd. We recently penned the forthcoming singles for both Melissa G. and Erin Hamilton.
Meanwhile, I am always seeking new and established artists, projects and labels to work with!
