2004 was a leap year. Coincidentally, it was also the year that S.L.U.G. (an acronym for Scarborough Loves Us Gangstas) leaped into Toronto's flourishing urban music scene. With thought-provoking lyricism, a vast array of musical backdrops and an energetic live show, this collective of East-End Toronto artists has secured their position in the underground and now prepares for the mainstream. The crew, made up of P.I., Kinsmuv, Ras Thug, Droops, Stretch Diesel, Elliott Scars, Camoflauge, Bishop Brigante and Problem Perion, have garnered respect and acquired recognition over the past few years. Rather than settle with what they've accomplished thus far, S.L.U.G. continues to strive towards reaching a broader audience and taking their music to the next level.

The Big Takeover, S.L.U.G.debut street album, was released mid 2004 and fortified their position as one of the elite groups in the city. With listeners via college radio fiending for more and their fanbase steadily growing, a solo effort by Kinsmuv titled "Street's President" was unleashed. Ras Thug followed suit with a solo effort of his own "Self Explanatory" a 7 track EP. In 2007, Stretch Diesel released a street album titled "Its Cold Out Here. After dozens of live shows, including opening for Elephant Man and Nas in 2007, and several interviews on college radio, S.L.U.G. has pooled all of their resources into another full length album slated for 2008. Additional solo releases from other members are also in the works and are scheduled to be released throughout 2008.

As one of the most respected and anticipated groups in Toronto's independent music hip hop scene, S.L.U.G. continues to perform at live venues and outshining the others on the bill. As they enter 2008, they plan to take their music to the next level by reaching new audiences and using their creativity, well-balanced penmanship and stellar beat selection. While other acts are either too commercial or too street oriented, S.L.U.G. has been blessed with the natural ability to deliver honest and meaningful messages coupled with carefully orchestrated melodies. It is time for hip hop music to return to its roots - and S.L.U.G. has willingly answered the call.
