Biography



Slowtheknife began in the spring of 2003 in a small town southwest of New Orleans, La called Houma. The band was started by Carl Hebert(Guitar) and John Lee(Vocals) both formerly of the band Fuel, later changed the name to Fractured( 1993-1997) from Houma, Louisiana. After taking a few years off from the music scene , they decided it was time to resurface and bring their unique writing style back to life. Finding the right musicians to help compliment their writing style would be the next obstacle. After going through various musicians, Chet Clement( Drums) joined the band in 2007 and added a new flavor to the music. In 2008 Keith Blalock (Bass) rounded out the band and was the last element to complete the rise of Slowtheknife. Now after a solid year of playing together Slowtheknife is in the studio working on their new full length album “ Repulsion ” which should be released sometime in February 2010.



Slowtheknife has a writing style of unique qualities; original and powerful. John Lee brings forth a mix of guttural brutality. He has a powerful vocal style that sounds like an Evil Dictator, demanding your attention while quenching the listeners thirst . Carl brings a powerful gain-driven guitar sound to compliment the brain pounding drum licks of Chet and the hard driving low end from Keith. Slowtheknife has a sound unlike others in Metal that shines through the era of over abundant sound-alike groups.



Slowtheknife have shared the stage with many bands over the past several years including: In This Moment, Drowning Pool, Opiate For The Masses, Lillian Axe, The Murdered, Bleed The Sky, My Ruin, Within Chaos, Jacknife, and many other unsigned local and regional acts . Slowtheknife had spent a few years under the label Set X Records and released the album “The Rhetoric’s Guide To Self Infliction” in 2005 . Slowtheknife is now working on their new album“ Repulsion ” which is being self produced and will be shopped around for distribution.
