Once upon a time Earth was just lying there, as new all-though she was already very old, undisturbed with her streams, waterfalls, bogs, ponds and lakes. She was lying there covered with her vast forests as a fur. Eons came and went without her way of life and being was questioned. Antennas, snouts and noses all lived in this whole, admittedly somewhat distanced from each other but with mutual respect.
Then there came a people. With skewers and axes they carved small gaps in the whole. They called themselves Humans and all the rest "animals" and "plants". Despite this, they lived in relative peace with their surroundings.
But when this age was approaching it’s end, the Humans began to lose their ties to Earth and her sacred vibration - her pulse - they could no longer recognize in their hearts. So they began travelling over continents and the oceans in, what must have felt like an eternal quest for the bond they’d lost. But if you chase, in the outer world, that which can only be found in the inner, it can never go well. The Humans killed, exterminated or tamed all other creatures that came in their way – all the ones who still lived in respect for each other. They dug into the earth and the oceans and deep in the primeval mountains, they found their new society's blood that could burn and give them tremendous power if it was poured into a machine. So they went in the air, cut down whole forests, built huge cities, waged terrible war, found the explanations for everything and called themselves civilized.
In the midst of this broken world, there were individuals who had not forgotten the original deal with the Earth. They were not out of a race but of all and they saw themselves as equals to the whole. They had slept in an eon, but now was their time to come forward, so they woke up and talked and sang, painted, wrote and circulated their message in every way they could - even though they knew that they could not save anything of the world they were born into. They sang, not of sadness for this old world that was doomed to perish, but to the joy of the new time that now was here. Everywhere on earth they preached their message and they sang, while the black blood burnt, and they were singing when the sky opened up to smother the flames. They sang about the Earth's new pulse and that we again can feel her in our hearts - if we want to.

Paganus is a wich for better days, a better world. Music is supposed to be fun and inspiring and, as opposed to politics, it has the power to con its way in and hit the listener directly in the heart. That is why the band was formed in 2004!

Paganus is not about compromising the message to make it as big as possible as quickly as possible. “Re-sanctify Mother Earth”- which have been our motto all from the start - wouldn’t be worth anything if it was to be re-shaped to fit a templet for commercial success. Furthermore we believe that Swedish lyrics sung in dialect and violin is strength and not a weakness.
“Kalla” (Calling for/invoking . higher Powers) is Paganus 2:nd full-length album and follow-up to “Skogsrock” (Forest-rock) which was said to be “the first ecological rock album” and “a worthy crusade for the countryside”. Paganus offered “a delightful change of pace from the usual city-fixated hipsters.”
“Kalla” is our new path which we hope you’ll enjoy sharing with us.
