SK, though of a Mauritian background, was born in 1986 in West Hill Hospital in Dartford. He got into hip hop at around the age of 14 through peers and later after going through rough times started to write lyrics and rap and found it to be therapeutic. He developed a lyrical/street style which attracted the attention of Raskil Records owner Ras who was impressed with his content, lyrics, voice and concepts and sensed a huge amount of potential in SK and eventually signed him to Raskil Records.
Since signing to Raskil, SK improved remarkably and extraordinarily quickly, adding more flavor to his sound. As his confidence increased he grew in all aspects as an mc and developed his signature and entertaining style, commenting that he felt he found his niche as an artist, while also getting heavily into producing and becoming a credible producer. He further honed his skills during a prison stint where he read and wrote lyrics regularly and even freestyled with some of his fellow inmates who were rappers, he also reflected a lot in prison about himself and the paths he wanted to take in his life.
Musically SK’s street yet commercial style appeals to a wide audience, ranging from casual listeners to hardcore hip hop fans, as he makes diverse music drawing from his experiences and surroundings. He has performed live numerous times to encouraging responses and feedback has always been highly positive with many stating they have never heard a style like his before.
In the future SK aspires to be firmly grounded in the hip hop scene and for his music to be heard and enjoyed globally. He has released a music video for his song “Perspective” that has had an enormous amount of incredible feedback and is currently working on his mixtape “SK: Phenomenon”. With his extremely unique style and abundance of talent he is sure to make an impact in the hip hop scene.
