They say “Stars are born” and if that is true then the same can be said of Rodiah Chanel Gardner, born January 22, 1979 in Rosedale Queens New York.

The stage and being front of an audience came natural to Rodiah who started dance lessons at the age of 3. She did the things children do when they have stars in their eyes and big dreams; local talent shows, school story- telling contests, at home dance recitals for anyone who would watch but when she stole the show in an elementary school play, her parents decided it was time to give her an outlet for her talents and creativity and they sought out a talent agency to represent her, Honey Child Models.

Through Honey Child, Rodiah did mostly catalog/print work however in September of 1989, Rodiah accompanied her parents to an audition for her little sister and although the audition was for children several years younger than Rodiah, her natural charm caught the eye of Lenny Kravitz’s then wife, Lisa Bonet. Bonet hand picked Rodiah to appear in Kravitz’s first music video “Let Love Rule”. Her parent’s both worked and when the woman who would take Rodiah on auditions moved away, her short career as a child model/actress came to a screeching halt.

Rodiah’s talents however found a new medium and in high school, her love of music and more specifically Hip Hop made her gravitate toward the art form. She began writing rhymes and recording demos that over the years would garner the interests of several label executives and hip hop recordings artists.

From 1998-2000, Rodiah worked at Roc-a-fella Records, while simultaneously working as a production assistant on music video shoots. At Roc-a-Fella she started as an intern but her hard worked paid off and she quickly earned her spot on the payroll as the assistant to the head of artist development. However being behind the scenes did not fulfill her yearning to be on stage, still seeking that feeling she felt in front of the camera, in 2002, Rodiah went to an open call for FUSE and although she wasn’t chosen for that particular casting but she left an impression on the talent director and 2003 she was called and subsequently appeared on FUSE in an all female emcee battle that she won. Fuse asked her to return in the spring of 2004 where she got the chance to display her lyrical prowess in front of D12. The Talent director and producers at FUSE were so impressed by her that she was invited to Co-Host an episode of Daily Download that summer.

Her natural wit and ease on screen was undeniable. In 2006, Rodiah signed a production deal with Imani Entertainment, the management company behind Keyshia Cole. When the deal ended in 2007, Rodiah went to Atlanta to record with multi-recording artist, Ma$e. Although her knack for song writing and love affair with music have earned her praise among her peers and mentors, the allure of television and the big screen can not be ignored .

There is an effortless way about Rodiah’s on screen performance that she has had since birth, a connection with the camera and the audience that is an involuntarily action, an in person air of dramatic display that is entertaining to even those closest to her. She has many talents but her on screen performance is a natural talent that can only be attributed to being part of her “destiny”…

They say “Stars are born” and if that is true then the same can be said of Rodiah.
