Shye

21-year-old Antione "Shye" Pearson has always had a way with words but it wasn't until 2009 that he decided to turn his rap dreams into reality.
Raised in the South Suburbs of Chicago, Shye first made noise in February of 2010 with his first official mixtape, Shutup Rollup & Ride. The tape hosted by DJ Ill Will and DJ Rampage (Omarion's official DJ) has amassed 40,000+ digital downloads and counting. The effort was featured on various popular websites including www.hotnewhiphop.com, www.datpiff.com, www.livemixtapes.com, and www.mixtapetorrent.com.
The swagger and cocky bravado Shye displayed on Shutup is proof positive of his natural competitive spirit. Something he honed well before stepping into the booth. "I played basketball my whole life and everybody hated me on the court because I talked mess the whole game but I was always able to back it up."
In a city known for its hoop stars, the 6'4" Shye held his own against some of the best, playing for noted AAU team Mac Irvin and even helping his high school team to the Illinois State playoffs against current NBA All-Star Derrick Rose's team in his senior year.
Unfortunately Shye's hoop dreams did not continue at the next level. Shye became enticed by his drive to create music for the masses. Within weeks of his first year of basketball in college, this drive inadvertently pushed Shye to follow a different dream. "I hurt a lot of people, one of those people being my mother," says Shye. "From that point I knew I had to make it in the music industry."
In addition to taking his rap career to the next level Shye and partner Kyle Cecich started Galaxy Music Group earlier this year. He also began working on his second mixtape entitled Lavish Dreams and Addictions.
Shye's upcoming mixtape is an aspiring set of songs that has been set to be released in the early summer months of 2011. The entire concept for Lavish Dreams and Addictions is that each song is inspired by the realistic objectives of dreaming, achieving, and succeeding. Unlike Shutup, which featured Shye "having fun" rapping over beats from different regions, Lavish finds him taking his craft more as a career, putting his competition on notice. Lavish Dreams and Addictions is music that you can listen to repeatedly; each time hearing a new reason to listen to it again tomorrow.

In just a year Shye has gone from virtually unknown to one of the most promising new rappers in the Midwest. The exponential growth he has shown from project to project is remarkable and this is just the beginning. Shye and Galaxy Music Group will be factors in the music business for many years to come.
