Sean Christopher Persuad, a.k.a. Shawnie Ranks was trailblazing from back in the day with the single “Getting It On” ” which became one of the top most requested videos on the “The Box” and reached 1. Shawnie’s talent wowed producers Heavy D, Dave Cintron (who produced Kelly Price, Soul for Real and Intro) and P-King (who produced Method Man and Ludacris), who worked vigorously to release his self titled album in 1995. The singles “Boomin Body” and “Goody Good Love” created industry buzz and interest in Shawnie skyrocketed. After the “Boomin Body” release fans so craved to see Shawnie that the video schedule was pushed up! Since then, Shawnie has introduced his music to fans worldwide, traveling from Europe to the Far East.
Now well traveled, mature and ready to make his presence felt again in the mainstream, he’s back on the scene with a new name. Dubbed the comeback king, and now known only as Shawnie since dropping the Ranks. Shawnie has already proved himself, holding his own alongside some of the most talented artists of yesteryear, including Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer and Beenie Man.
Armed with a new sound, new label and band of hot producers, Shawnie is back on the dancehall R&B scene with a winning attitude.

Keep your eyes peeled for his new album, Burnin' Hot, due to be released on Prolific/Bungalo/UMVD summer 2006. The first singles off the long awaited album, “Shake Ya Money Maker” featuring a Reggaeton remix and “Do Ya Thang Ma”, a collabo with Queen Pen, both are already burning up the airwaves in Jamaica. Burnin' Hot boasts collabo credits with artists like Prolific solo artist Salena Dabbs and Prolific hip-hop artist Southern Dynasty promising fans more great music. Although Shawnie is now preparing for his promotional tour, with dates scheduled for the US, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean he will be returning to his fans with some good music, just as promised.
