Shawn Bigby has one purpose anytime he is given the opportunity to minister-usher people into the raw presence of God. Born and raised in Anderson, SC, Shawn has been a locally renowned vocalist for nearly fifteen years. He gained notoriety by doing lead work and solos while serving in ministry at his home church of Salem Baptist Church. It was there that he began learning how to minister through song as well as direct and teach. At the age of 17, Shawn heard God’s call of being a worship leader and left Salem to sit under Pastor Kenneth Dean at Mt.Zion Baptist church in Belton SC. It was here, along with the “pushing” of his minister of music ,Brandon Groves, as well as the director of the Anderson University Ensemble, Mr. Leonard Johnson, that Shawn began to experience worship at a new level; thereby gaining a new knowledge of God and His purpose for our lives. Throughout the years Shawn’s musical gifts have blossomed and made room for him. He has been afforded the opportunity to share in ministry all over the east coast as well as in London and Japan. He has been featured on several recording projects as well as being a great artist in his own right. He has shared in ministry with many artists including the Anderson University Ensemble, Double Vision, Larry McCoullugh and Chosen Generation, Higher Called Community Choir, Nicholtown Community Choir, Brandon Groves, Faith Davis, Lawan Neeley, Tyronn Wilkins and Fav'r, Jamyle Searcy and Fruit of the Spirit, Kim Burrell, Stephen Hurd, Pastor Shirley Ceasar, Dewayne Woods, The Canton Spirituals, Judith Christie Mcallister, Israel and New Breed and many others. Shawn not only has an uncanny and anointed vocal style but also has the ability to express his praise and worship for God through is prolific writing ability. His writing was most recently featured on the Anderson University Ensemble”s live recording titled “Thank You.” Coupled with those gifts Shawn is also a sought after clinician and teacher on worship and praise. He has done various workshops and clinics where he is often pulled to help worship leaders know their roles and the importance of worship in their lives. Above everything else he is a worshipper, he has a heart for worship and praise, and desires to see others experience God in newer and greater ways not just in concerts but everyday life! Keep your ears posted because Shawn Bigby along with his worship group Yielded Vessels will be doing their first live recording on October 3rd 2008! You do not want to miss this praise and worship experience! Leading up to this event will be a series of concerts featuring local artists and choirs of that area!
