"Shades of Rhythm"

1987 to 2006

Three bad boys on a Mission!!!!!!

Rayan Gee, Nick Slater and LANX (Kevin Lancaster) met when they were very VERY young. They produced music for themselves and for the gigs they DJ'd at in their home town of Peterborough (Cambridgeshire)

but they hit it big in 1989 when multiple tracks from their self pressed album "Frequency" took hold of the emerging Rave scene.

The track that caught peoples attention were:

Homicide

Exorcist

Sweet Sensation

Sound of Eden

Frequency

If you like Shades of Rhythm you my also like

the DrumAttic Twins

From a quite country town the boys got thrown into a rave whirlwind that still carries an inertia to this very day.

Performing 2 to 4 times a week with other artists like the Prodigy,Njoi or K klass at raves like Raindance and Fantasia to clubs like the Astoria to the Hacienda it was the time of there lives, Shades were constantly on the road and this meant no more REAL work for them, their dancers, lighting and sound team "every day was a party" and it seemed at that time the whole country between the age of 18 and 30 thought exactly the same thing.

Once they had been snapped up by a major record label in this case ZTT (Warned brothers)and between partying and gigging the threesome manged to cork up considerable success on the live scene and also in the UK National charts Sound of Eden getting into the top 30 and Extacy reaching number 14 and warranting an appearance on Top of the Pops (and the less said about that the better haha).

The band recorded many more singles after Extacy but due to major record label bureaucracy the music was never released >;-!

In 1997 Nick & Lanx decided to release some of there other on their own record label Drumattic records, they had three main releases, the reaction was so good the Twins were subsequently picked up by top independant breaks label Finger Lickin Records.

All the S/O/R back catalogue is planned for re-release on none other than Finger Lickin records complete with some tantalizing remix work by the worlds finest breaks producers

So the show goes on!!!

S/O/R are still doing shows around the world, please check out their dates to see if they're in your area
