SFHB!

Three 19 year old guys from Melbourne, Australia.

The earliest incarnation of the band was formed in late winter, 2006. All of the members where in their second last year of high school. Throughout 2007 they played shows at some of Melbourne’s most renowned live music venues, including Roxanne’s Parlour, Eurotrash, Click Click and Revolver.

They started to send out bedroom recordings of their songs to radio stations. In December 2007, the group won a nation wide competition run by youth radio station Triple J. The prize was a spot on the line up of the 07’ Falls Festival held in Lorne, Victoria. Around this time they also acquired significant rotation on the radio station. SFHB! Shared the bill with bands such as Kings of Leon, New Young Pony Club, Groove Armarda, Midnight Juggernauts, The Cops, Operator Please, Cut off your Hands, Lior and Gotye.

After such a whirlwind end to the year, SFHB! took the first few weeks of 2008 as a break from live shows. They did however, continue to write new material; crafting tight beats, mad synth lines and awesome melodies in the basement of Tim’s Parent’s house.

They returned to the live circuit with a sold out show at Miss Libertines. Next they made their debut at both the Northcote Social Club and the Gershwin Room, supporting the Paper Scissors and Dukes of Windsor.

In mid march, SFHB! embarked on their first east coast tour, playing shows in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane.

The next month they played the Essential Festival with RatATat and Regurgitator. After a brief support with The Galvatrons, they played another show in Sydney at the World Bar and then crashed out hardcore on a fan’s couch.

SFHB! played a short set to showcase new material in June and then decided to take the next few months off to write and record a new EP. They turned the front room of their suburban apartment into a practice studio and only left for sushi, spud bar and cigarettes.

In the first few days of August, they went into the studio with Neil Thomason (My Disco, Love of Diagrams ) to record a single and a B side.
