A name that is growing more and more popular around the Upper Cumberland and if youve ever been to a show youll understand why. They always deliver very energetic performances that bring the crowd off their asses and on to their feet.



THE MISSION:



To conquer the world and rock its bloody face off. The mission statement of Severed Tension is simple and to the point, much like the music the band delivers.



THE PURPOSE:

Fueled by passionate rage, the music of Severed Tension was created for the people of earth to take out their aggressions through music rather than on each other. for the most part this experiment has proven widely successful



THE BAND:

Tommy Lee: Lead Vocals

Brandon Grogan: Lead Guitar

Clay Shiner: Lead Guitar

Rodney Wilmoth: Bass Guitar

Jason Phy: Drums



THE FACTS:

In Nov 2004, Severed Tension was formed by vocalist Tommy Lee, Guitarist Brandon Grogan and Drummer Jason Phy in Cookeville, TN (more specifically 'Jason's Garage'). Weeks later the band begins writing original material including 'Shattered' and 'Breaking Down'. In Jan 2005, Darren Murphy (Rhythym Guitar) and Shane McKinnis (Bassist) join the band to complete original lineup. Also the band moves practice facility from Jason's garage to Mainstream Studios. In Mar 2005, Severed Tension plays first live show at The Obscure Cafe in Cookeville. Set list includes original songs 'Shattered', 'Breaking Down', 'Part of Me', and 'Cynical'. In Apr 2005, Severed Tension competes in Battle of the Bands and finishes 6th. Songs 'State of Mind' and 'This Prayer; written. In May 2005, 'Shattered' is recorded. In June 2005, Severed Tension plays in 1st annual June Jam at Vinnie T's with 'Angry' making its public debut. In July 2005, 1st demo finished with songs 'Shattered', 'Angry' and 'This Prayer'. During the show with Project jones, Donnie (The Angry Bat) makes its 1st public appearance. For the next year, between playing shows, writing songs and hectic work schedules, Severed Tension goes into the studio to record debut LP Ill Tempered. On July 15, 2006, Ill Tempered released at show with Twelvefold. Due to personal reasons Darren and Shane leave Severed Tension. Long time band friend Rodney Wilmoth and local guitarist Clay Shiner come on board to play bass and guitar respectively, to complete current lineup.



THE SONGS:

Not yet, but the pair have a knack for putting together hard core rock music with catchy hooks and smooth melodies. Tommy and Brandon's wide array of musical influences can be felt on every song of Severed Tensions debut LP Ill Tempered

Musical influences include: Metallica, Pantera, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed and others.



Lyrical influences include Metallica, Godsmack, Linkin Park, Alkaline Trio, Willie Nelson and Nirvana.



THE VERDICT:

While Severed Tension continues to grow musically the group's live show can be summed up in one word: INTENSE. If you've come to talk to friends, sit back in your chair, and enjoy the atomsphere then you're wasting your time. This is one particular band that demands respect and if they don't receive it; they obtain it by any means necessary.
