Born on the 22nd of June, 1973 in The Hague, the Netherlands. Lived most of his life so far in Voorburg and the surrounding areas. Married and father of a beautiful little girl called Aidyn. Music takes a huge part in Eric's life. His musical tastes drift from left to right. At the age of 14 he finally pursuaded his parents to buy him an electric guitar and some lessons. Though he had lessons for 3 years, he still sees himself as a self-taught guitar player.Eric has been seriously playing guitar in bands since 1991. MANIFEST (1991-1998); a band that was seen as the Dutch answer to Cynic at the time. The band lasted from 1991 till 1998 and produced some impressive music. All members of this band spread their wings and can and could be found in several high-profile bands like Severe Torture, Stream of Passion, The Saturnine, Blo.torch, Daeonia, Acrid, and Trisomy since. Manifest could be seen as a free spirit. A band that didn't care about rules and was mostly about writing and playing music that was close to the musicians hearts. The band produced some incredible songs in which the individual parts were maybe not so technical but the combination made up for that in a immense and eclectic way.
DAEONIA (1993-2003). A band that made music in the vein of the leaders in the gothic rock genre like Fields of the Nephilim, The Sisters of Mercy and The Mission. Daeonia signed a recording deal with Candlelight Records (a.o. Emperor, Opeth, To-Mera, Crowbar, many more) in 1997 and released 1 mini CD, 1 CD single and 2 full-length albums. Eri used the knowledge of the Manifest era to build some unique and impressive songs with a deep melancholic undertone. The 10 years of its existence were filled with a lot of struggle and just plain bad luck. The band split up in 2003.
THE SATURNINE (2004-present). A band formed with Dennis Leeflang (former drummer of Sun Caged & Within Temptation, currently with Bumblefoot), Sander v/d Thillart (vocals), Edo van der Kolk (former guitar player with Jambone, currently with Kingfisher Sky) and Douwe de Wilde (former bass player with Daeonia, currently with Man Made Madness). The line-up recorded a devestating EP, "Within Without". Contact me if you are interested in owning a copy!! After several line-up changes, containing the likes of Ciro Palma (drums; ex-Within Temptation, ex-Xenomorph), Michael van der Kolk (drums), Ivar de Graaf (drums; ex-Within Temptation, Kingfisher Sky) and Claudia de Graaf (vocals), the band turned back to their roots as Dennis rejoined and the core was complimented with the musical capabilities of Matty Pritchard (ex-The Din) on vocals and Danny Tunker (Fuelblooded, Detonation) on guitar. The new EP was released in June 2007, after which Sander returned as the vocalist. The band is currently planning a new release.
TRISOMY (2004-2008). A rogue band in the gothic metal world, playing with the likes of Epica, After Forever, Paradise Lost, Bloodflowerz, Autumn, Orphanage, and many many more. Check them out! The end of 2007 saw Eric's departure from Trisomy after 4 exciting years.
STREAM OF PASSION (2007-present), a band known for the participation of Arjen Lucassen (AYREON) and Marcela Bovio (ELFONIA). Arjen left in 2007 and Eric is the one replacing him on rhythm guitars. Stream of Passion fits in the gothic metal world, but their sound does differ a lot from the mainstream of that genre. The band released their debut album in 2005, followed by a live CD and DVD. The band has recently recorded their 2nd full-length album, which will include some of Eric's typical style of guitar playing. A release is scheduled for May 2009

Still not sick of playing live, the waiting, the travelling.
