Sebastian Gonzalez

Around the XXI century Sebastian Gonzalez appeared to the masses. A multifaceted artist that has renovated the schemes conventionality by revolutionizing a changing world where analog is making a transition to digital. Mr. Gonzalez has gained international recognition by communicating through his many numerous artistic creations ranging from writing, painting, music between many other forms of expression. He simply needed to write, sing, and play his own songs in his own unique style, which was enough to make him one of the biggest and most important artist throughout the underground world.



As a teenager, Sebastian and his music style drifted towards Rock & Blues; influenced greatly by The Animals, The Velvet Underground, Bo Diddley and other sounds of that ilk. This led to his founding of what he calls “The New Blues“, which went on to considerable acknowledgement and success.



-Childhood and Beginning-



Sebastian was born in Calarca, Colombia, August 16 of 1982 from a Colombian mother, Angela Chacon and a Colombian father Jorge Gonzalez. Sebastian, means "venerable" deriving from Greek. Ever since he was a young boy his relatives shared their passion for music contributing into his own personal musical discovery. At age 7, Sebastian had already picked up on his path for an artistic career and began to write about the world around him at that young stage of his life.



He departed from his country Colombia in 1993 and relocated to Miami; leaving behind the colorful country side where he spent most of his youth. He did so in exchange of pursuing his solo career. Sebastian traveled north to Canada, after been rejected from most colleges in the “Land of the Free“. In the “Great White North” he found himself involved in the middle of the 2002 Montreal Jazz Festival. Before winter, he came back to the United States in a long bicycle ride under a carpet of stars which guided his way back to the Sunshine State.



His passion and his adventurous travels led him into discovering traditional Folk like sounds such as Blues, Classic Rock, Psychedelics, as well as current Independent music styles.



Sebastian’s journey began on the interstate highways that communicate Miami with New York. On the road it was only him, his car, his clothes and a Native American flute. The hours passed by without stopping, the battery on his laptop had completely died. Boredom sneaked upon his window when destiny unfolded before his eyes and his music journey began.



Sebastian stopped his car on the side of the highway, near a ghost town, here he found inspiration from within and started playing. This became his first completed song called “Ojos Negros” (Black Eyes). This occurrence took place in the middle of the night in North Carolina, under the moon, the stars and a dense layer of fog that only captured the lights of a few cars that traveled along Interstate 95, leaving only a space in the night to drift away inside of a sleeping bag.



All of his work is also a dedication to God and his family.
