"Baby U" Video, Dub B Feat. Thin C, Just Press Play !!!

Dub B, the artist, executive and creative force behind the nation's up-and-coming powerhouse SeaReal Records, has been on a serious grind in the run up to his sophomore effort, The SeaReal Way, For Dub, the process of building his career has been an education in life and in politics of business. From the wild days that followed his debut album SeaReality, to the more mature, seasoned sound and approach that makes up his sophomore album The SeaReal Way, Dub has been patiently doing what needs to be done to gain the respect and achieve the success every artist is working for.

"I had to step back and really figure out what it was I wanted to do with my life," says Dub. "I got caught up with the good times and was letting too many people guide my career. I've had to really focus on creating the music I want to create and giving people the truth when it comes to who I am. Luckily, I was young when I hit, and I came through the craziness with a long future ahead of me."

To make it in the music business as an independent artist, you have to be able to work both sides of the equation. There's the music, and there's the business. After coming off a successful coast to coast touring season, performing over 60 shows with established artists like Bone ThugsN-Harmony, Ludacris, E-40, Nappy Roots, and Baby Bash, Dub took a break to reflect on what he had accomplished thus far.

"I picked up the 2way and hit Thin C (Bone Thugs producer and longtime Mo Thugs artist) and told him to free up time to hit the studio with me for a few months," says Dub. "I just decided that for my next joint, I had to really get my feel down. We wanted to make sure that we took what I had started and built on it, evolved it.""

A specific direction in their heads, Dub and Thin split the next six months between Seattle and LA, locking themselves in the studio as Dub got to work fine-tuning his flows, lyrics and musical direction. A phone call to Noble of Tupac's Outlawz, turned into one of the defining moments, when Noble put Dub onto Lance Pierre and Tommy Daugherty, long time Death Row engineers, and the mixers behind 2 Pac's classic Makaveli album. With the co-sign from Noble, Pierre and Dougherty reunited in Seattle at SeaReal studio, for the first time since the Death Row days to help Dub complete his latest album, The SeaReal Way.

Outside of the studio, Dub began to get deeper into the business side of the music business, taking meetings with label executives, management firms, and key players in the entertainment industry, mapping out a plan that would give him the edge in an industry struggling to define itself and remain relevant.

"I met with a lot of influential people, and I got lucky being able to sit down with John Barnes, one of the legendary Motown session players. He really gave me a greater understanding of how the business is evolving in respect to marketing and sales in a digital age," Dub explains.

Those conversations with John Barnes broadened Dub's perspectives on how to make SeaReal Records and Dub B into household names. A major outcome of those conversations with Barnes, were meetings with Larry Yates and Carolyn Wilkins of Key Knote Entertainment, the only indie marketing and distribution company to have been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards.

The end result of the connection with Key Knote is a marketing and distribution deal that gives SeaReal Records and Dub B the necessary infrastructure and support to get the whole world open to The SeaReal Way.
