Travis Orbin - Screaming Headless Torsos Cover/Interpretation - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 16, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
This tune is called "Blue in Green (The Vampire's Song)" and it's from the album loosely known as '1995'. The vocal melody is based on Miles Davis's trumpet solo from the same tune on his 'Kind Of Blue' record.

Screaming Headless Torsos are one of my favorite bands. Their sound is an eclectic amalgam of many various styles of music. The guitarist, David 'Fuze' Fiuczynski, is incredible and unique; everything from his tone to his voicing. He is a profound artist, progressing with time and experience as one should.

There are a number of drummers that have passed through the SHT camp. Jojo Mayer -- a then obscure name in the drumming community -- played on '1995' and played his butt off! Another drumming monstrosity that's performed with SHT is Gene Lake.

There is much vocal, guitar and percussion interplay and overall improv on my behalf. The sheet music contains notes pertaining to a few of the fill-ins, the big accents and also where Jojo placed his rimclicks. I played to the song and not a click, thus the 'tightness' goes with it.
