Scanz's myspace is currently being re-designed. Check out the new design coming soon.

Scanz has set up camp on hip-hop’s playground and has no intention of leaving-- just check the byproducts of his unstoppable grind that have so far earned him the titles of producer, lyricist and businessman. On his sophomore album The Basement Chronicle, available online officially through his company Four Hour Future, Scanz delivers a sound that’s organic, authentic and saturated with classic boom bap essence. In an industry where rappers are a dime a dozen, Scanz’s music highlights an essential trick of the game: there is no box.

Scanz’s extensive list of accomplishments boasts his talent and lays the foundation for the career in hip hop that his future inevitably holds—and it all took place before he was legally allowed to celebrate with a drink. He taught himself how to produce beats at 14, and throughout high school went on to compete and win in multiple beat battles and woo crowds on the mic at shows in the area. After graduating with honors and enrolling in Drexel University’s music industry program in Philadelphia, the culture and opportunities in the city opened doors for his passion to grow. At 19, he was selected as one of the Rawkus 50, under which he released his first album, Prelude to a Legacy. Produced by Scanz himself and FrankG of the Ish Productions, he gives listeners reason to believe that he’s destined for the proportions hinted at in the title. After the release of Prelude to a Legacy, Scanz has been revered as "The Greatest of all time" by KRS-One in a prophetic freestyle after the Blastmaster watched him rip the stage up on his own set. He has appeared in the Source's Off The Radar, had a NUMBER 1 "most listened to" song on HipHopDx.com, been played on Hot97, and has been interviewed and featured on various blogs,

magazines, and other media outlets. Steadily gaining a reputation, he's been hitting the internet blogs with tracks and attracting download numbers in the thousands. Scanz has also collaborated with a number of artists, including Krs-One, Mr. Lif, Akrobatik, Reef the Lost Cauze and Chaundon.

But it doesn’t stop there. Along with a few motivated individuals, a 20-year young Scanz started his own company, FourHourFuture, with aims to elevate their audience to an aesthetic that transcends the simplistic stigma of the mainstream. And at the dawn of 2009, Scanz finally celebrated his 21st birthday with a toast in anticipation of what’s to come.

Scanz has put together a music video and short documentary to accompany his new album, and is preparing a slew of other projects to come. With this independent grind as a full time college student, one can only imagine what it would be like if he was dedicated full time

or if a major company was backing him.

Scanz impressively maintains his hustle in balancing his academic goals and musical ventures, but nothing else can be expected from an individual who’s made his life revolve around finding and conquering the next challenge. If he’s not at class or self-promoting via his company’s site and blog (fourhourfuture.com and thefutureblog, com, respectively), you can find him cooking up masterpieces in his basement, because if doors don’t open, he’s sure

to find another way in.
